tien,

No, I was not impressed in the least with the "custom" dynoflash. Al did a total of about 4-5 pulls max and called it a day; nowhere near a full 2 hours spent that he advertises. He was rude and was talking trash about the other guys waiting for a road tune and also felt the need to take a lunch break in the middle of my "tuning" session that I paid him 300 bucks for. He was just offensive in every way possible. I can only imagine that he was talking trash about me to the other guys there after he was done with my car. Never again.

Yeah Al is moody. I wasnt impressed with my flash at all. I didnt feel anymore power just more smoothness. And although he wasnt rude to me I dont know what he said about me to other people. All I can say is with my personal experience its better to be dyno tuned that get flashes. And any real tuner will tell you this.

Yeah that exactly how I felt about the tune.... smoother, but not noticably more powerful. Obviously, eliminating the boost cut I was getting helped. All he could do was talk trash about how certain parts on my car were "pieces of ****"... I was like... dude, you're the tuner... deal with what you are dealt, stop b!tching about this part or the 91 octane or whatever and just make do with what you have. Arrgh... bringing back bad experiences....

I zip-tied my front plate to the wire mesh on the front of the car. I centered it between the intercooler and the air duct on the driver's side (so as to allow good airflow to both of those), then a few zip-ties and it's held in place pretty well.

Well it looks as though robi won't be back in town by saturday so I'm going with John Mueller instead. I'm getting the alignment done by him Friday evening and then a 7am tune Saturday at Tuning Tech. It works out perfectly because now I will be able to hang out with the Tuning Tech crew at Fontana and see how the car performs in the 1/4 mile on race gas.

I'm doing the same in October, TT for a Dyno Tune. A hour and a half drive is worth it to me, for great customer service and a great tune. November will be the trip up to Robi for his "Basic" package.
I'll try to make it for this Friday's meet at Fry's, but I don't think I'll be racing at the Q. Still would like to go and check it out.

I'll see you guy's there.
Mitch

On my car, an Evo VIII, the front plate probably overlaps the left 2 inches of the intercooler.

I realize now that if you were to mount it the same place on an Evo IX, you'd be covering one of the little oval shaped vents in the front. Whether that's an issue or not, I don't know.
