Radar detectors are useless in SoCal?

So what the hell kind of tactic are cops using here to get your speed? My X50 never goes off when I see a cop in my area of Oceanside... occasionally it will go off when I'm going down the highway. I got a speeding ticket a month ago when I was coming up a hill late one night. All I saw was a Crow Vic's headlights speeding up behind me.... nothing was going on with my radar/laser detector.

How are cops getting a speed reading? Is there some brand new technology that they use here? The x50 works fine in other states... just not here in SoCal.

He could be pacing you or using math to determine your speed. What did the ticket say? My X50 pretty much catches everything - and that includes my trips to Cali.

Very likely they're just hiding and waiting until someone they estimate is exceeding the limit drives by, then they pace for a bit to justify giving the ticket.

IF i had the chance...i would KICK EVERY SINGLE COPS B*TCH ***. they need to go out and capture the real bad guys who are out assulting, murdering, raping, molesting, abusing, robbing, etc. the cops who actually do that i would leave alone. lol

i was thinking of buying a V1. so the lidar is NOT detectable on radar detectors?

LIDAR is a type of laser. I believe any radar detector that can detect laser can detect LIDAR.

Interesting post thisxguy....... FYI LIDAR is undetectable...and it is going to take full effect in about 9 mos. to 1 year. It is being used now, but nut fully issued to all area offices of the CHP. Oh, and as for thisxguy's comment....It sounds like you got popped to many times from the chippies... FYI...their job(s) and ONLY job(s) are to do traffic cites, and accidents.. (primarily speaking). Your threats to police officers seem typical....lets face it!...Has anyone EVER said...."gosh officer, I WAS speeding, thank you sincerely for the ticket...I truly deserve it!" ???? I find guilty people *****ing the most about getting a ticket!

Nothing that could be used to gauge speed is undetectable. Maybe by current detectors, but it won't be long before they come out with one that can detect it. I just moved to SF and my detector is useless because for some reason it goes off everywhere, i.e. the entire length of the San Mateo Bridge... with no one around

i duno i live in oceanside also and it seems that cops will just sit there in between cars hiding and picking off cars one by one. seriously i saw 2 cops not even 20 yrds from each other. one wsa giving a ticket while another was hiding and picking off people as they rode by. i kinda feel there should be a better way to give me a ticket. i can understand them tailing me for a bit and estimating my speed. thats legit to me but when they sit there and hide in between parked cars. all we can do is drive slower i guess. (GAY!!!)
