Ok here it is folks! I just signed up to attend the speedventures track day at Willow springs on August 2nd/3rd!! I know that this may cause a conflict as our meets are scheduled for the first sunday of every month (August 3rd). The canyon runs got me going, and a couple buddies of mine will be going (miata, and SR20DET S13), so I thought it would be a perfect opportunity to get out and stretch this EVO's legs. I don't know how you all feel about putting your EVO's on a track, but trust me when I tell you that this is what it's all about! The price is insanely low for a weekend (usually they are higher especially for two days!), and they offer instruction for all the peeps who haven't driven on-track before. My price, $275, includes BOTH days, instruction on BOTH days, and the timing device rental to log times. The timing device is optional, so if you don't care about logging your times you can knock off $40, and if you don't want an instructor for the second day knock off another $30 which will bring the price down to a crackhead deal of $205. THIS track is NOT hard on your car, as speeds tend to be fairly low by comparison, and you shouldn't beat up your tires/brakes too much. I don't know how many of you will be interested in going, but I think it would be one for the ages if we crashed this party with a bunch of new EVO's!!!

These things are so easy to do it's scary! Of course you have to get a helmet, if you don't already own one. We could even plan a meet around this for those of you who don't want to race, you can come out and watch and we can hang out, or you can ride along with those of us who do drive. Just a suggestion, if nobody else wants to do this, cool, but I am locked into this. Let's go have some fun...legally this time, so we don't have to worry about mustangs painted like cop cars

even if one were to go *****-out the whole time? I've done SOW before, just not in a car...seems like there's a lot of high g-load corners. And my stock advans are already showing considerable wear after just 1000 miles, especially in front. Just trying to get a handle on whether this trackday will cost $130 or $930 (800 for a new set of A046s).
hehe, your'e right about the corners, but they tend to be a little slower than most tracks by comparison, and with AWD it shouldn't be that bad. I think autocrosses will be much harder on the tires than this day will be. JMO
Hey Apex, did you sign up or what? Dino Swears to me he's gonna sign up (his wife is encouraging him!!!) so that's two of us with you that makes three. I need to see more replies...Chris let's put those mods to the test bro, where you at? Bueller...Bueller...
Rich, like I told you, I can't afford to ding my ride so no racing for me. Once I buy a second car (an Xterra or something), then I will be a little more adventurous. Also, I am waiting to get my BBS wheels with the PZero Corsas and the slotted rotors. Then I think things will be lovely. As for putting my mods to the test, I am going to the dyno on the 25th (tentative schedule)...
ooooooo c'mon man cars don't get dinged and the Streets bro! They do on the old course (larger Willow Springs full course) The Streets of Willow is chill, well, by comparison. Aha, and if you came out now with the stock brakes and tires you would appreciate your new slots and corsas even more. Uh oh, did you say you were going to "test" your car on a dyno? C'mon if we all followed that logic the jets would've never beaten the colts, and we wouldn't know who Joe Namath was. (reference to competition on paper much like all the previous EVO v STI arguments). I'm trying REALLY hard to refute all your reasons for not going, but I know it isn't working.
Oh well, no soup for you hehehe. I dunno maybe I'm in shock, and a little disappointed that more EVO owners aren't coming right out of the box on this deal. I mean if this was an ITR board or a miata (especially miata) board I would've had 10 people say "I already signed up dude" on the first day. Oh well. I know we all have our priorities, I just want our deal to be as tight as some of the other club events I have been to.
