WORKS vs. Vishnu Dyno Day Shootout
I can now confirm that WORKS will be attending the dyno day at Vishnu Tuning on Sunday, August 3rd for the Vishnu vs. WORKS shootout.
If you are interested in the story behind this event, the details can be found here: https://www.evolutionm.net/forums/sh...5&pagenumber=7
We have concluded our discussions with Shiv and it looks like we will be comparing Vishnu’s Stage 0 -- which consists of an Xede engine control unit and catback exhaust -- with our 91 Octane Brain flash and Exhale axle back exhaust. Yes, you read correctly, it will be an axle back vs. a cat back.
Both companies will be testing their products in their currently available configurations (e.g. set up identically to how our respective customers already have them). This will prevent any “ringers” or last minute substitutions. That said, once the evaluation has been completed, we have agreed to have Shiv use the opportunity to introduce his new boost control upgrade that he will be shipping soon for the Stage 0 (I understand this feature has not yet been available for the Stage 0, but has been out for his Stage 1 package).
As far as WORKS goes, for Sunday we are sticking with stock peak boost and our axle back since those are the products that our customers are presently using. While we will not be introducing any new upgrades this weekend, we will have our full line of initial products available and will gladly answer questions about what lies ahead for us as well.
Shiv has agreed to post to this thread with the ground rules and format of Sunday’s “shootout” -- which is to include both dyno and "real world" testing -- along with an opening Q&A session designed to acquaint everyone with our respective companies, design philosophies, etc.
All in all, we look forward to participating at the dyno day and getting a chance to meet local Evo owners and allow them to have a chance to both see and experience the WORKS performance upgrades.
Thanks to Shiv for his hospitality and hope to see you there! The fun starts at noon.

Damn, I wish I could attend, but I live in Texas. Please keep us post on everything.
I wish both you the very best. Overall Ya'll are both WINNERS, just by keeping in line with people who own Evo's.

Goodluck

As a company we have decided that we will not be attending the Dyno Day at Vishnu tomorrow. We have no desire to associate ourselves with that particular business and do not view them as a competitor. We had hoped that our common passion for the Mitsubishi Lancer Evo would unite these two companies for at least a day, despite our very different backgrounds and tuning philosophies. However, the events that have transpired since our initial contact with Vishnu Performance have convinced us that this is not the proper venue for us to showcase our products and that this has unfortunately transformed into something very different from what we had originally intended.
Instead, we will be hosting our own Dyno Day at Advanced Turbo Performance in Fremont, California in September. We will use this opportunity to demonstrate our products and introduce both our staff and tuning approach to those in attendance. The event is open to all Evo enthusiasts, including those using the Xede based systems or any other line of performance products, wishing to compare these products to those offered by WORKS on ATP’s AWD Dyno.
We will, of course, be providing food and refreshments.
Further details will be posted here on EvolutionM and on the WORKS website at (http://www.worksrally.com/) as they become available.
We hope everyone enjoys the Dyno Day at Vishnu tomorrow and look forward to meeting you all in September.

I was at the dyno day and there was some nice cars out there one car with a RMR turbo back and an apexi safc was getting numbers around 240, a car with works stuff was getting around 210, and stock evos around 200. It was nice to see a bunch of evos out there with a lot of different setups.
lame. This makes WORKS look scared. To agree to go, then pull out? This makes me skeptical as a consumer and i will not be purchasing any works products until i see independent review. especially comparing other products.
Unless someone can point me to a thread where something more happend.

Yeah, it does kinda look lame. I started looking at the WORKS stuff initially but after this, I won't be. I don't understand why they wouldn't do it. After seeing one of their customer's cars only put down 210 and another one not wanting to dyno theirs, it makes me wonder what is going on?

I believe that had this been done at a "neutral dyno" as it were, it would have been more beneficial to everyone involved and possibly would have provided a unquestionably "fair" outcome. Unfortunately, this was not the case.
Furthermore, Shiv wanted AFR for free - something I was not willing to give. I offered specific conditions I deemed fair and appropriate for giving him the data he wanted, but he was unwilling to meet them. Sure, he offered me a free dyno run, but paying 100$ for a dyno run to me is not a big deal, and the principal of the matter mattered to me moreso than a free dyno run that really only benefitted him. Sure, a numerical value on my cars performance would been nice, but it is not at the top of my priority list. I can live without knowing exactly what horse power level my car is at.
Anyhow, Works is having a dyno day in September. The current plan is this:
1. First, I am going to reflash my ECU to stock.
2. Next, I dyno it.
3. Then reflash with the Works Brain reflash.
4. Finally, another dyno run to see the improvements.
After all of this has transpired and I put my findings on the web, then please - judge away.
I cannot blame you for feeling the way you do regarding Works, Vishnu, etc. Furthermore, I would probably side with you had I not had my ECU reflashed and noticed the huge difference the Works Brain reflash has made.
And just so you know, I am not loyal to any particular aftermarket vendor. I will buy what works best and is cost efficient. To me, the stuff that Vishnu sells, like any one of his exhaust systems, are just too expensive and I makes me feel as if I am paying more just to have their logo on a part. Sure, they will say otherwise (they are in the business of making money off of you, right?), but I seriously doubt there is a big enough performance differential between the Buschur Racing cat-back and the Vishnu cat-back to warrant the 350$ difference.
