I have those tires! I can't tell if they're quieter than the Advans since I'm still getting used to the sh*tty roads here.

They're fun in the rain, though...

Thanks Flo for the Synapse BoV! I got it installed with some major modifications needed to be done. I appreciate it.

Just thought I'd share my results with you guys:

It was tough getting it installed =\ They have a known condition where they tend to flutter/surge A LOT especially with the X's. I had a lot of trial and error to do and almost gave up completely just because it's nearly impossible to get rid of the surge that Synapse's BoV's have. I had to cut my BoV Outlet hose to Intake cause this one is HUGE! Pun intended O_O. Messed around extensively with the A port and B port and VTA's to Recirculations. Had to do lots of pulls just to get the feel for it and see the outcome of each change.

Eventually I came to the conclusion that Port A and B connected with C Port set to VTA (Haven't touched C Port, ever) with the pre-load spring removed was the best bet and gave the less Flutter/Surge. The turbo spools 200 RPMS quicker at 2400 but BoV also releases a lot more quieter and later than my stock Diverter Valve. I usually get releases at 3200 where as I could let off throttle with stock DV at about 2.8-3K to release. Not sure if what I'm experiencing is lag or the fact that it holds more boost because of no boost leak that it doesn't let out as quick as Stock DV.

At the moment I still get Flutter/Surge with my current setup but not as often when I was trying previous setups prior to this. It usually comes on at high throttle input while accelerating from a higher gear at lower RPM's. It's natural to get some but with stock DV I didn't experience this at all unless it was a really severe case of bad rpm/speed to gear ratio; like accelerating from 30mph at 5th. I noticed if I let off throttle too soon from a WoT acceleration also causes this Flutter, it's like it needs to be let off smoothly and not too aggressive. Overall the Flutter that I managed to almost eliminate thus far is on a scale of 3/10 where it initially used to be 10/10 (I would literally get absolutely no control of a smooth release at all).

Anyway tomorrow after work I'm going to try one last set up running Port B to Vac, A to Open and C to a T'd off Wastegate (Boost Only line) with the Preload Spring removed and report back on this. Going to see if this gets rid of the Flutter completely.

All in All me being the biggest car noob of this whole community, I feel like I learned a lot so far from you guys who gave me tips in person and actually helped me apply some of that knowledge to do my very own engine mod by myself today. Might have been seen as simple on the outside but **** was a lot of work.

Much EVOl. Backwards.

That was a lot of typing... So what is your current setup if you don't mind me asking?

Performance Mods?

AMS Intercooler Piping
AMS Intake
Synapse BoV
Custom Testpipe
Custom TP-Back Exhaust w/ dual CF mufflers

I'm still trying to slowly get all the basic bolt-ons. I don't really know much about cars in general (can't even change my own oil lol) so I want to take this slow and really get to learn about every piece that I put in.

That's all. Still new to the game!

I understand that bro... I will say this though, you have absolutely no need for an aftermarket bov with your current mods... The X oem piece can and will hold boost just fine without being crushed. With that out of the way... Now that you have a bov.. If it has a c port you can send it to synapse to have the port removed since the newer generation doesn't have a c port. Also, I'm assuming you are running a synapse bov (in recirc mode?) or are you running a synapse dv? There are so many things that could be causing the flutter.. Also, are you tuned? Do you have a boost gauge and ebcs? If all 3 are yes there is a small possibility that (depending on amount of boost you are tuned at) you will spike higher levels of boost.. This causing knock up high... But if you aren't tuned then you probably already have knock anyways

Eitherway, good to see you are taking on modding yourself... It will save you money and there are plenty of DIY threads to help you out

No Boost Controller, No Boost Gauge, No Tune! I'm going to keep my FMIC unless I buy yours =P I heard stock are good till 400WHP but if I can get anything on Island, I will.

I'm going to get a Boost Gauge (without a pod since I can't find a pod anywhere on isle) and maybe a TS MBC Boost-T just for the purpose of getting my tune done with Streamline Performance. So hopefully the tune can also clear out this whole Flutter thing or narrow down the prospects. But from what you said about the whole Synapse inhouse service thing, it might just be a viable option and I'd like to make that my last option. I'm gonna try to test out all this configurations first cause it's fun and challenging. Easy button is a no-no!! They made these for Evo's too so there has to be a way for it to run properly without the negative conditions; the way it was meant to be by their testing and design.

Thanks Rob!! ^.<!

EDIT: I seen Vids of the Evo's with these version 1's running just perfectly fine. But seems like everyone has the same issue's and different configurations for different people. Mother F*. Not sure how Synapse can create something of the epitome but still **** it up at the same time. Like an oxymoron.

Alright, so based off of the last meet we had on Saturday night, it was brought to my attention that there are quite a few of us hat live on the west side. With that brig said, the next meet will be at Waikele Shopping Center.
I feel that we should rotate have a new set scenery every meet and also give other members the luxury of driving 5 minutes to meet up. I know I take it for granted, being that I live right behind the NEX.
As for the guys that like in Kaneohe, (Froy, Alex) we will figure out a meet closer to you guys too.

Next meet:
Waikele shopping Center (Starbucks)
Saturday September 8th @ 12:00 Noon

Spread the word!!
