Interesting. Most plausible explanation I found is to balance out the look of the rear of the car, exhaust on one side, hello kitty on the other, lol.

Guess I don't need one since I got quad tips. My car is zen.

So did that explanation come from someone that also said, "I got VTEC yo!"?

Nah. There are a ton of different origin stories, and as I am not superstitious, balancing out the look of the car makes the most sense to me.

I had assumed they were similar to the bells that bikers put on their motorcycles to keep the gremlins at bay.

Ive seen a Camry around my area with a Garfield suctioned to the rear window. Its a huge stuffed animal version. Then theres also a Civic with a pretty big drift charm. Im actually surprised that thing managed to stay on the car since it looks like its dragging along the road.

Its true. I sold the Evo. It was giving me too many problems and I just don't have the money and time to dish out to have it running correctly. Maybe next year I'll pick up another one. When I do, it'll have to be a stock Evo.
I'd like to build it myself instead of figuring out what has been done to it. I don't like blind puzzles.
