Denied a test drive at Assael Mitsubishi
They gave me hell, then I gave them hell and they eventually gave me a drive. I just kept *****ing real loud and kept going back, having them call me.
I got an EVo for $29,000 in june, the cheapest sold at the time.

Sometimes I'm surprised dealerships can ever sell a car, or maintain/repair them. With teh exception of some BMW and Lexus dealerships, they seam to have it together, and I've never once had any issue at those dealerships, whether from service or test drives. Never baught one new, but they certainly know how to keep customers driving their cars, whether new or not. Car quality though isn't much different IMHO across the baord, but perceived quality from how you are treated and the entire big picture of owning the car are night and day.
I have trouble believing anyone would buy a 30k dollar car without test driving it. Even a car as great as the evo is not for everyone, it just doesn't fit for every driver. I've driven both the evo and the sti, and I'm still making my decision as to which one to buy. I would not even consider buying one or the other without a test drive. I guess maybe because I am a little older (40) it's easier for me to get a test drive, but that is BS, my money is no more valuble than a 20 year olds money. Mitsu should get with the program here and offer demo cars to the dealer, or make some other arrangments for test drives. I agree that i would not want a tester which has been ragged out by many different drivers, but they could be sold at discounts, just like every other dealer does.
just my two cents...
just my two cents...
I went car hunting on Friday with the intentions of getting a WRX STi. I went to the closest Subaru dealership and walked up to the STi. The salesman started talking to me and wasn't too much help (I'm 20) until my mother came over and looked at it with me. He was basically like, "Oh... your parents are going to buy it for you, eh?" That really offended me, but I really liked the car so I stayed there. They wouldn't let me test drive the STi or a regular WRX. I finally talked them into letting me test drive a used WRX they had on their lot. After that, I stopped by the Mitsu dealership down the road. They were MUCH more helpful and asked right away if I wanted to test drive the Evo. All I had to do was fill out some paperwork (I guess to show that I actually wanted to buy it) and then the salesman encouraged me to see how fast I could go.
Anyway, I'm going back on Tuesday to buy the Evo that they have in their showroom with four miles on it.

I had no intention of driving it that day when I asked for a test drive. I merely wanted a ride to feel the handling, and that's what I told them. I'm 21, and the Evo was the biggest purchase of my life. Why would I want to buy it blindly? In the end, I took the words of you guys and just bought it

Thats weird that a lot of you got denied a test drive. I was in San Antonio getting back surgery and acouple of days after the surgery i went test driving cars with my mom and aunt and they let me take an beautiful apex silver evo out no problem. A little lecture from the salesman before hand but thats it. btw im 17....
I have the ultimate response. See, I sell cars too. I sell chevys and Hummers. There is nothing worse tha being stroked by some loser who thinks hes mr big nuts, who wants to show his girlfriend how cool he is, on their first date, on a friday night at 9:15, when we close at 9:00, that he can buy a hummer. What a joke. How about the guy who wants to beat on a new Z06 vette? See, I didnt have to drive my evo before I bought it. I was an "Ultimate buyer". My response to test drives is... "Sir, the ultimate buyer of this vehicle would not like miles on it... I'm sure you agree." Enough said!!!
I baught mine from RIVERSIDE Mitsu not to far from sanbernadino they were cool and said I could test drive once my credit was checked and deal was onthe table etc.
I hate sanbernadino mitsu they would let me drive one under the same sercomstances but they would not hook up a a deal and were kinda *******s u know

A couple of Fridays ago my wife and I went to courtesy mitsubishi in Santa Clara to drive an evo. Since it was my second time there and I called ahead to speak with the sales lady it wasn't a big problem in getting a test drive. They brought out a brand new car with 3 miles on it. We only got to drive it for about 5 miles. the lady said that they wanted to keep the miles low on them. My wife wasn't sold on the evo. When I told the sales lady that we need to think on it, they were shocked. I bet they thought they had a sale for sure. That wanted me to go back in and talk to the manager why we didn't like the car. I thought that was a bunch of Bull$hit. It's not like this car is a ferarri. We walked over to the infiniti dealership, test drove a G35 for 20 miles and ended up buying it on Sunday. Mitsubishi screwed the pooch on that sale becauase of their lame test drive policy. If they want to sell cars, they should have a demo Evo for anyone and everyone to drive. Sure they are going to get a bunch of people driving it with no intention of buying, but it will generate a lot of interst and most likely a lot more sales. Here is a pic of our new G35
