After I see how the cars are reacting in this area I will develop some tuning strategy to overcome this variable
I don't care if I make one dime on the journey - I must go there to set the record straight and clear my name
I want to share a funny story I will always remember
When I was last in Tuscon there were some young chaps from asia who are there attending school - apparently very well off as they have Evo MR's with some significant mods and they dont work - anyway
After one of them complained that his car still felt slow after my custom tune and his buddies car I had tuned with similar mods was faster, I offered to race them to prove that his car was faster - to equalize the ballast we put the two buddies in the buddies car - 150 x 2 = 300 lbs and me in the questoning customer's car
We lined up in the desert side by side at a stop and I gave them the jump - by the end of a apporx 1/3 mile length I was at least 10 - 12 cars in the lead
Then I asked the customer - do you still think your buddies car is faster ???
Then I said - lets try something else
"You two guys get back in your car and I'll drive your buddies car"
We turned about and raced back the same way we came - again I let them get the jump and again I beat them by at least 10 - 12 cars
I offered him the inescapable conclusion - thus pissing them off no end no doubt - "bro - neither of you guys could drive a nail" - "you need to practice"
Anyway - it was a fun time - you had to be there
By this time the Police helicopters were circling up above so it was time to retreat to Burger King for some R & R
My point - driving fast at the track usually means beating the crap out of your car and lots of practice. A guy like Warrtalon on this forum who goes nearly 11's without cams in his car is a guy who has done a lot of drag racing and has practiced many many times with his car.
Factor in 91 octane fuel, high heat and you have the prescription for some frustrating track experiences
My solution - alcohol injection and more boost
