Las Vegas Evo's
Attention all silver evos, my bumper needs to go! My garage is just too small (1 car), and I need the room for other stuff. $200 takes it. I also have a Greddy counterweight shift knob for $15 (paid $40 for it).

I also have the mesh that goes where the intercooler is. I paid $350 shipped for this bumper unpainted. Paint is still pretty good, just little rock chips from driving.

Now on to a different topic. How much boost will a stock evoVIII handle without knock?
With 91 octane I logged a stock VIII with MBC to find out that 24peak and 20@ redline gave me good results with only one 2 count, and four 1 counts with a 4th gear pull.
With 5gals of 100 in a full tank of 91 rebel gas
27psi peak (guess since the gauge goes only to 25psi) and 24 at redline
4th gear pull. got a couple 1 counts at 2800rpm-3000.
When driving like you would down the track (stop to top of 4th) shifting at redline all gears, nothing, nada, zero's all the way down.
Did about 5 more pulls and never got anything but a 1 count lasting no longer than 150 rpms.
Timing and fuel was left alone at factory defaults.
I am very impressed. Now I know why the stock fuel maps are so friggin rich. So it can handle the fella who gets boost happy with a controler.
And thats the high octane map it stayed in. Still have that safety net low map there incase of a bad tank of fuel.
What can you get the IX's to run safely?
thats just a visual on the size difference.

Hey Mike, the 8 turbo can take 30+ if you want it to. The problem is that the stock turbo runs out of air just about 29-32lbs. The other problem runing 30+psi is your stock wastegate. It wont hold much pressure. Heres my old graph from back in the days. It was my 91octane map on 22lbs and my c16 map on 29lbs but fell to 27 because of my stock wastegate.
the reason I stopped turning it up is because I ran out of gauge for one, for two, any higher than that and I'd want some strait 100. (I like to play safe with this one)
BTW, this motivates me to ask when I can pick up the turbo and 02? I'd like to have everything on by SEMA.

OK, bring by Thursdays meet. Check PM
Anyone ever try to "spring" the wastegate with a Home Depot spring like I do the internal gated subies?

After seeing some logs of ppl with straight 91, I suggested to them to mix that with race gas. That's what I did before the meth and showed lil if no knock. Most ppl who are doing that are now seeing the same results proving how sh1tty 91 is.
