I just checked the value of my car and to my surprise it was worth 24,000 (sold to a private party)
this is of course with no mods and wheels

That car on a trade today is about 22k and that's a generous offer by a dealer. They may give you 20K. I read on these forums dealers offering as low as 18k with average miles, stock cars. The dealer will turn around and sell your 22K trade for about 27K as a used car on their lot.
So to lose 10k in a year and a half sucks badly. That's nowhere in the top ten best value holding cars. A new 16K Civic can be sold for about 13 to 14K after a couple years.

Sorry, but it's the truth. My dad has 25 years experience in dealship sales and currently sells Mitsubishis, I hear the same thing from him (sometimes even worse on the trade in side).

But listen man, Sport Compact Car magazine loves these cars and rates them very highly on the cars to own list
As for engine building, you already deal with the best engine builder in the city (for these kind of engines), the weak links are what causes downtime.
The Evo's are great cars but the weakest link is always the first to give way, (as shown). I'd love to own one but, it's not fiscally correct for me right now (as a parent).
