Las Vegas Evo's
I just love it how there is noone in this town, that can do good work that they can stand behind.
This past friday, I was driving over to a friends house with 4 people in my car, I turned into his development, was 2 minutes away from his house, when everyone in the car started smelling this bad smell, wasnt like a clutch smell, but something burning rather.
We got to his house, pulled into the driveway, and when we went out, we could see smoke coming from the hood, we popped the hood, where it was smoking really bad, and you could smelling something burning, like 45 seconds after opening the hood, we were searching around with our heads really close to the engine, when we saw flames deep down in the engine bay by the transmisson. We slammed the hood, and started running around like a bunch of little girls, after like a min and a half, we found a hose and put it out.
Later on, we crawled underneath the car with flashlights, and we found a burned up shop rag by my exhaust manifold, which is close to the transmisson. We pulled it out and bagged it up then had the car towed to the dealer. Went to the dealer on saturday, they put it on a lift, and pulled more of the rag out, and said that was probably what burned, and said everything else was fine after looking at it for 2 minutes, and sent me off. Before I left, I had the manager sign a service report saying that they found a shop rag underneath the car by the transmisson, which they had just worked on putting my clutch in earlier, and fixing something that was wrong with it.
Drove the car home parked it in the garage, next day, started up the car to move it out of the garage so I could clean the garage, got the same smell like something was burning, and it was not the clutch smell, shut the car off and havent touched it since. So now basically I have a car in the garage that Im scared to drive for the time being, and a dealership saying nothing was damaged and nothing is wrong.
So I think tomorrow morning, Im going to drive the car into the dealer scared ****less, and just leave it there with them, and tell them to buy the car back since they caused the fire.

Great story, dealerhips can be shadier than Trevtec. (We all know that by now).
Sorry you haven't found anyone you can trust yet Dan, You've been decent with me, so I must wish you good luck on this. Sorry I have no recommendations for you. After all of the S_H_I_T talking that went on here in this forum, LDL doesn't want any of the LV EVO owners business.
Too bad for you guys, now you have to go to the bottom feeders for work.

SO quick to point fingers, good luck with your clutch and transfer case.
Go launch on everybody.

And Derek, after I got my car back from the accident, I picked it up from the body shop with 37 miles put on it between the time I picked it up and the time it was dropped off from the accident. A couple of days after I got it back, the clutch was engaging really high versus right at the floor where it was before, and about a week later it started to slip bad in 6th, and then it moved onto 5th. It is my guess, that the body shop drove the **** out of it, and launched like crazy on it, but since I coudln't prove it, I just stopped complaining to the body shop, and had my insurance replace it for me as accident damage, since it happened right after the accident.

Common though.

Like I said in my previous post, I suspect the clutch went out, due to some abusive driving done by the body shop, but I cant really prove that like I said, it is just what I think happened.
And sorry about spelling your name wrong, im terrible at spelling.
I feel for you guys in a way, but pointing fingers at LDL gets my blood boiling.
You make a good example (regardless of model/brand) that these transmission/clutch/transfer case failures are common in awd cars.
The VW/Audi guys have the same issues, trust me.

Make these ignorant individuals understand what happened and I will be happy to refrain from the online abuse.
It was unfortunate what happened with your set-up but your car was treated with respect, (I know this from being there and staying in contact with the shop). Professional assistance is what you received and I want your peers to know that, along with the dignose and info on the shipping delays on your parts.
