spike 23 at about 3300-3400 in 3rd and drop to 16 at about 7400. 4th holds a little better through the rpms but still starts to taper at about 5500 all the way to 16 at 7400. I wish it would hold like most VIII's do. I was thinking the forge actuator would help but have heard mixed opinions.

I was told that IX tapers more than the VIII due to the mivec. It wont hurt to do a boost leak test.

the taper is from the head outflowing the turbo it'll always taper for IX's. no way around it really, it sucks. even if you upgrade to an evogreen, the head still outflows that turbo causing boost to taper off.

Well, I have the Forge UNOS MBC currently, and i would say honestly, its alittle flakey. What that means is that it holds boost but still tapers, and spikes! Jer.k said that there is 2 ways of hooking up MBC's. 1. is to run one line off the turbo outlett nipple straight to the MBC. THe other way is to T the line off the intake solenoid. Im going to try #2 this week and see if that makes a difference. I have my MBC set to 22psi. It spikes to 24, then can taper to 20...like i said, its not too accurate. The soft spring is in it at the moment.

Ive got the Hallman Pro RX with the hard spring in it and its a night and day difference between my old turbo xs. Thats on an VIII though... So if the head is out flowing the turbo theres nothing you can really do, but has it always been doing this since you 1st had the car or after your started modding?

Its been worse since I started modding. Stock it would spike 20, hold 18 till red line. First thing I did was tbe. Still ok with boost. Next mbc and no matter what boost I run, unless its less than 20, it tapers like mad crazy above 5500 all the way down to 16psi. The forge actuator has a 19psi spring in it so I was gonna try that and see if that helps. I know its gonna taper a bit but I'm losing 6-8psi up top. If I can somehow find a way to help it hold better up top the car would be much quicker at the strip.

Just saw a dark grey VIII in Winnemucca driving past the Red Lion. Looked like he had dragging numbers written on his front window.

The other way was off the blowoff valve line not the intake solenoid ...what is the intake solinoid?

I have my Hallman mbc T'd off the blowoff vacuum line and get 26--17psi at redline w/ no spiking. The stock turbo is way out of its effiecency range at redline.
