I don't think anyone was over-reacting. Just making sure Jim knows to watch his oil level, oil pressure and do a basic check of the engines life by doing a compression and leak down test. Anyone that buys a used engine should do those things.

It was built to make power, not last 50k miles. Can he drive it around town with trips of 50 miles at a time ? Sure. Can he drive it everyday and expect it to last 25k mileage ? Not so much. Basically its a streetable strip motor. He can drive it on the street like to work, meets, or the green door, but I would expect there to be excessive ring wear and bearing wear in a couple years.
As for oil he's running 10w40 Brad Penn now during the cold climate, 20w50 once it warms up.

i was looking at HX35 Evos and im amazed by the spool, i figured that thing would be laggy as hell
im using a hx35... to be honest this turbo is sweet. im only running 10psi right now because ive maxed out my 450cc's but im make 300whp and the spool is awesome. keep in mind ive got a 2.4l but it shouldnt be much different on a 2.0l. the holsets are twin scroll but im using a non twinscroll manifold and its still delivers nicely. i would highly recomend a holset. they are cheap and very well built. im running the hx35 with a 18cm2 turbine housing which is equal to about a 1.12a/r but if you want faster spool you can go with a 16,14,12 or even a 9cm2 housing.

dsm tuners has some great info on holset turbo. the only problem i see for you guys with evos is that you would have to change up everything. manifold, licp, downpipe, intake to run one. people are seeing 26psi by 3500-3800rpm on a 500-550whp turbo that cost $300-400 so thats not bad at all.

hey guys, need a little bit of help understanding this. I am trying to make a boost leak tester myself. Something convenient like this one

https://www.evolutionm.net/forums/ev...-detector.html

i got all those parts except the pcv. I wasn't absolutely sure what kind/size i needed. Thats what you plug into your turbo inlet or pipes? So if i was to plug that into the turbo intlet, i would need a 2.75? ( i believe thats the stock x turbo size )

And do i really need a flexible drain rubber coupling like this one here?
https://www.evolutionm.net/forums/ev...er-5-02-a.html
Or is the one i am making is where i just stick it in the couplers connecting what ever it maybe

sorry if i am confusing, i just wanted to make sure i am understanding this correctly and so on.

Thanks in advance!

usually a rounded off end cap of PVC pipe is what ive seen. the size of the intake pipe on most cars are 2.5" so thats what i would use. it would bolt right up to the turbo using the coupler you already have. the first how to looks like overkill unless your compressor doesnt have any way to regulate the PSI of the air comming out. then it would be a good idea to add a regulator. otherwise. 2.5" end cap , two valve stems , one for the air in one for a PSI gauge and some epoxy will get the job done.

yeah, thats my issue, ive known about the holset for a wile and it seems as it grows in popularity , the prices have grown as well. a twin scroll HX35 would be perfect for me, i just have to piece together a kit :/
