Does anyone know of any trans experts in SL county/Utah county who are very good with evos? I have a near mint 06 evo MR with the 6 speed and it's still having 1-2 shift issues at only 10k miles. Tried all the different strategies on how to cure it to no avail. I'm starting to think it was a factory defect in these trans. Never raced. Either way I don't trust anyone I've met who is a mechanic with this car and I don't have the time or the lift to check it out myself. Any help is appreciated.

I know Gears in Lehi did some work on my friends Evo 8 race car and a few others around. They are the only local ones I know of personally. If it was something that for sure needed to be rebuilt or freshened up I would sent it to Jacks Transmission in Colorado though. I hear nothing, but great things from their rebuilds.

Not everybody is on facebook, some just move on to bigger and better things.

Jordan, are you talking about valve or ignition timing?

Or are still here. The Facebook group has a low signal-to-noise ratio and too much petty arguing for me most days.

Very true. Lots of arguing and comparing as to who the bigger dick is

Needs to be better moderating on that Facebook group to be honest. More than half of the people on their should not be in that group

It's a bad sign when they need a big warning at the top of the Utah Evos page reminding members to not make violent threats against each other.

I don't believe the engines are all that different, I would guess that they are similar for valve timing setup.

The 442 is doing good, since I bought it, it has been nothing more than a place to rest my beer on. The project is now under way, I have the rear suspension, wheels/tires and material to box the frame. I'm going to pick up a new frame this weekend to start fabrication. I hope to have a full rolling chassis by the end of the year so I can start on the body and cage next year.

That Olds looks like a beast! So what's the plan for the motor? Its got to be crazy if your tinkering with it

I don't think the motors are very different either.

Nice to see the new project doing what projects do best

I will be out there on Sunday shredding it up It would be nice to see more Evo's come out to these. I think there are only 3 of us that regularly go out. Tom with his Black Evo 9 that can drive, Randy with the Gray Evo X MR and myself. I bet both of them will be out both days. I would if I didn't have work to do tomorrow

The first engine will be a mild 425ci big block producing about 550-600 hp. The second engine will be a max effort 440 ci small block producing 750+ hp. The end goal for the car is to have the baddest olds in the state running single digits in the quarter while retaining some streetability...we'll just have to see how that goes.
