Moving to Hawaii - Mod Laws???

Hi all,

I'm moving to Honolulu, Hawaii soon and I wanted some info about the laws for modified cars out there? Someone told me that they ticket loud exhausts, low suspensions, and even tints out there? I also understand that they don't do emissions testing but they do vehicles inspections? What the hell is that? Lemme know what's up!! Thanks.

yes, Ive had my EVO inspected there but it failed. i just left Hawaii and i'm in virginia now. basically Exhaust and any sort or suspension mods will fail ie. coilovers, springs ect..Sad thing is even if you dont have hawaii plates you still have to have a safety inspection after 30 days. You can get something called a recon sticker at the recon station but its by appointment only and i also failed that because they will push your front fender and trunk and your suspension is suppose to travel 2 inches which it wont if you have coilevers even on the softest setting my Tein flex coilovers failed. the only way around it is to meet people and they will tell you how to get a safety sticker if you know what i mean. PM me if you need further guidence. Home this helps

tint must be no darker than 35%
f*** recon just tell the cops that you are at stock height if you are running springs they honestly can't tell the difference i've done it a few times.
and exhaust cannot be louder than 93db.

i'm on cusco coilovers so they stand out. all i have to do is raise to stock height??

93db at WOT?? so if I run with a silencer i should pass inspection and i won't be harassed by cops??
