Best Garage in the Bay Area (SF) for performance upgrades
I will be purchasing my first Evo within the next few weeks. I intend to heavily modify the suspension and power output. Does anyone have an opinion on which shop does the best work? Has the best rep? Aren't a bunch of tuner snobs and might want to have a repeat customer?

Give Works Motorsports a call
If you are willing to travel a bit further North (Sears Point / Infineon), why not check out the folks at Works Motorsports http://worksevo.com They are very competent, customer oriented, and their founder (and head engineer) has a long list of accomplishments with Evo's. They have many nice parts as well as an excellent tune that can be applied to your Evo X.

Full Function in Union City for tuning, fabrication, parts, and labor.
Speedelement in Fremont for parts and labor.
I've been a customer for both since I got my Evo in 2007. I'll go to these places if I can't do the work myself. I've received good customer service at both. Very responsive when contacted. If only these shops offered alignments and tires then I probably wouldn't go anywhere else. If you don't go to them you may as well start learning to work on your own car.

FFTec for tuning and Speedelement for the parts/labor.
I have nothing but praises for both shops and you cant go wrong there.
GST is a VERY good shop, but sometimes you feel like the shop is more focused on their race car/team than their customers, which is a big no-no when it comes to great customer service.

Ditto, I've heard more bad things about GST and Works than FFTec, but honestly I've heard stuff about all of em... it happens.
