Thanks all for responses. Probably makes sense to visit and check the vibe. I know perceptions from the interwebs can vary from reality but at least I got the names of the top speed shops!
Picked up my Evo yesterday (sooner than expected). Couldn't be more stoked. I was shocked to here this could be the last run. Glad I got in before the door slammed shut....
I just can't wait to ruin some ones day in an M3.......or a 911.....or an S4 or.......

Congrats on the car,

a little late here but as you can tell from my Sig I go to FFTec, Sean has given me rock solid tunes that over the passed years have proven to be safe and fast on the (real) track

Devin @ speed element is also great guy that can definitely help source parts for you, and his labor rates are quite good.

as far as works, I have avoided them simply because word of mouth being on the negative side.

Now I have to ask... Break in:
I've already put 500 on the odo. Got it with 14 showing. Assuming dealer joyrides they hit the red at least once.
I stayed off the boost and never broke 5k (well maybe at 470m ) though the suspension got a work out.
Any way after the initial 500 are there any concerns?
I live in SF so the clutch is going to take a beating. No way around that and I know it will be replaced while I own the car.
I noticed a lot more people like to chase or run (if they can) when I drive this car....

LOL I used to hate that. Don't deal with it much anymore since I rarely ever drive my Evo.

There are a lot of fan bois out here when it comes to shops, but you're very much in luck since you have so many choices. When I lived in San Diego I had to drive up to LA to find a trustworthy and knowledgeable shop.

Anyway, I would suggest you look into (in NO particular order):

FFTEC - http://www.fftec.com/
Speed Element Performance - http://www.speedelement.com/
WORKS - http://www.worksevo.com/store/index.php?cPath=100
GST Motorsports, Inc. - http://www.gstmotorsports.com/home/

You really can't go wrong with any of these. If you want my own personal opinion or experiences with them, feel free to PM me. I'm not going to turn this into a shop vs. shop discussion.

Been to a few EVO Specialist Shops in the Bay Area, and Full Function in Union City is the only one I've returned to since owning my EVO!! Hands down Performance oriented Shop! They work on most any sports cars but really have a sweet spot for 4G63's!! On top of that their really nice guys! Remember its just my 2 cents!!
