HAWAII car club
hey guys i just got home grom droppin off my mother to work... and i got stop by a cop and got q's from where i was on a sunday morning around 5- 6 am and i told them i was at home sleepin..... they said there lookin for a mitsu lancer that was involve in street racing accident... 2 acuras were crash into eachother and the mitsu lancer was racing with them.... so be careful out there cops are checkin lancers.... keep the racing on the track pple..
That's weird if now HPD is pulling every Lancer/Evo on the road, they will keep an eye on us from now because one noob with his Lancer/Evo was doing illegal street racing. May be this is the reason, many Evo's owner are pulled over...
Do you have more information on the Lancer/Evo they are looking for? I never heard about that accident.
Anyway ...
What's up guys
...
Oh yeah, when is the Tuning show in Honolulu? I heard there will be one in August??

Hows it? I just got registered the other day and been reading how ****ed up HPD is treating the Evo owners on island. I'll be coming that way in Dec with my stock yellow Evo 8. Is there anything I need to do to my car before shipping it that way. I've been stock piling mods (HKS RS intake, RS-R catback exhaust, intercooling kit, earth grounding system, 264 cams, Defi HUD, boost gauge, control unit II, DC input, and other supporting mods) and wanted to do install them when I arrive. Should I just have them done in the mainland? I heard there wasn't a AWD dyno on island. I appreciate your help.
p.s.
Hopefully those boys will treat you guys a little better.

man i would do it on the mainland, but if you do get it done out here, you have to go to recon so that the cops cant ticket you for you exhaust and all that stuff. plus most of the shops out here don't carry anything for evo's.
if he wants his car to be legal then he will have to get the recon sticker whether he puts his parts on here or on the mainland. however, there are some mod friendly inspection stations out there which will pass your vehicle despite your mods. the cops can still pull you over though if they feel your car is not stock.
keep in touch with us through the forum and im sure one of us can assist you when you arrive.
and oh yeah, it will probably be cheaper for you to install your parts on the mainland. i would definately go that route. are you shipping in a sealed container?

Ok you're gona have to help me out. I've been overseas for almost ten years and haven't registered a car stateside in a while. What the heck is a recon sticker? Is it only found in Hawaii? If so can I just safety check it before I add the mods and get the sticker, then use sticker when my mods are in place? The car is registered in OKC right now. My parents are shipping it over at uncle sam's expense
. They do ship the vehicles in containers, but I don't know how 'sealed' they are. I shipped my old truck to Guam and had no problems. Thanks for the help and I'll definitely be in contact. bump.

Yes you can get the sticker prior to installing your mods but then you run the risk of harassment fromt the police. To be honest you run the risk of harassment either way. Like I said though, there are inspection stations that have been known to look the other way when it comes to mods. Meaning you are likely to pass without having to go to the recon station.
By the way, how is OKC? That is where I was born.

I saw a few GI's on this thread... any more?
OKC is great when I visit, but I have no intention of going back any time soon. I actually haven't lived there since '95.
You guys have fun cruising...
