Santa Monica Mitsu Bad Experiences Here Please
Ok guys, here's the deal. I am writing a letter to Mitsu HQ and I need everyone's stories together in here. If you wouldn't mind posting an e-mail address too, this way if perhaps some sort of investigation was to be conducted Mitsu HQ would have some way to contact everyone who has been ripped off or had any bad experiences there. Here's my story:
I bought my Rally Red Evolution last August. Everything was signed including a Hold Check Agreement. SM Mitsu was to hold my check until the 20th of August. They did not. This was the first offense.
I returned to SM Mitsu and gave the Finance Manager cash. Now just today on April 13, 2004 approximately eight months later I receive a letter from the SM Mitsu Collection Department claiming that I owe them $7000.00 and that if I do not pay within 10 days I will be criminally prosecuted.
This is absolute BS and I have honestly had enough of this. I know many people in the auto industry and believe me, Mitsu will be conducting some sort of investigation after they receive this letter. Please make your posts ASAP so I can get this thing rolling.
I appreciate all help and support from fellow members.

here's my experience...
so i walk into the dealership, asking for a weightless white evo w/ sunroof and wing, and LOW mileage, as in no test driving done to it.
the salesman says ok lets go take a look. we see the first evo and it has 28 miles. he says thats very low man. i told him i bought a car 5 months ago with 5 miles so i have no clue what he's talking about. we then find another one, that has 14 miles. he goes "thats the lowest you're going to find it". i still say im positive there are lower mileage ones when delivered. he then says lets go look at the storage. we go there and after a long time of goin back to the dealership to find the right keys, he finds the right key for the weightless white.
he gives me the key and goes "check out the mileage." i walk in and turn it on - 4 miles. i look at him and he goes "see? look what i did for you?". in my mind im like wtf did you just say?
afterwards, we drive back to the dealership. he now knows he has the exact car im looking for. he starts to act as if he's doing me a favor selling this car. during our ride, as he takes a break from rapping to Holidae Inn by Chingy, he asks if im thirsty. im like yeah sure so we stop by 7-11.
And here's the best part of it - he goes "I'd like a coke and some chips please" (i forgot exactly what he asked me). what a f*cking joke - the salesman just asked the customer, who is purchasing something thousands of dollars from him, to go down and buy his fat @ss sh%t to eat. unbelievable. eventually i look at him and say "wait..you want the customer, to buy the salesman, food." he goes "whats wrong with that?" i reply, "ill buy your food for you if you want, but you gota go down and get it yourself". i think he realized what a rude b*tch he was and bought his own food.
afterwards we did get the paperwork settled and i got out of there. by the way, one last thing - they didnt send me my license plates for more than 9 weeks. i had to call and they finally registered my car the day i called. but of course they didn't inform me that since i bought the car in october, i paid way more for registration when davis was still governor and now arnold rolled back the registration to regular prices. i had to point out that i wanted my $400 refund directly from santa monica - i wouldn't be getting it from the dmv since they just registered my car in february.
i did get the car for 100 over invoice in october, which was relatively good. oh yeah, when i picked up the car, the sticker said 28k mark up. i looked at the salesman and said "28k markup?" he goes "you wanna pay that?"
ill let you guys decide how great santa monica mitsubishi is after my personal experience...
i hope my salesman reads this - most disrespectful f*cker ever

The original check did bounce, but they were never supposed to deposit it in the first place. We had signed a Hold Check Agreement. After it bounced I just paid them cash.
Now they want $7,000 more claiming I never paid them...
That sounds like a PITA experience to me d3wu. Hopefully we can get Mitsu to do something about all this.

I bought my evo from SM mitsu and had them do the hold on the check for one day which they did fine however the rest of the experiance SUCKED!!!!!! First problem they didnt have a white evo but they gave me the whole we can get whatever color we want BS. But once I decided on the price they didnt want to get the white and kept trying to sell me the black after pulling teeth with them they finally sent the silver for the white. The white gets there like 3 hours later and has a low wing on it, I ask whats that thing doing on there? they said it came with the low wing which they failed to mention, so they write me a work order for the carbon fiber wing. I had fun with the car for 2 days and took it back to get the carbon wing. The service manager Mark told me they had to find one which took about a week then the begging of week 2 he told me they sent it to get painted and had to put a new rear brake light. like 2 days later the salesman I delt with calls me and comes and picks me up cause they have to discuss something with me. We park in the back and I see my evo sitting covered in dirt UNTOUCHED!! so the finance manager tells me that the wing will cost the dealership 1300 or something like that after market. So he told me they were going to give me the black evo, I told them bull**** I didnt want that black evo and that they gave me all this bs about how they could get any color I wanted but now they couldnt get another white so I told them to fix the white evo or give me my money back. The finance manager told me he would get another white or blue evo. I come back 2 days later to find out the status and nobody would talk to me nor let my get stuff out of the evo I owned. So I leave pissed and come back with my father the next day to find out that everybody I had delt with was no longer at SM mitsu so I had to deal with a new guy who told us that they decided to bite the bullit and put the wing on which took another week. All together I didnt have my car about 3 1/2 weeks it was the worst ordeal ever and I hate SM mitsu.
did the silver they switched with have the cf wing??? because when we do dealer trades over here...they have to be IDENTICAL or its not allowed, thats weird...as for the 3 hour wait for bringing the white one in(they have no control over)some of our dealer trades take 20 mins, my last one i had to fetch from Riverside and that took 2 hours
sounds like they f'ed up big time on the wing, they need to fax the invoice and make sure the ONLY difference is the color and nothing else

Let's not forget that Santa Monica Mitsubishi was the first with the ridiculous $20k markup on the EVO when it first came out.
Their service department also does not know how to work on EVOs. Be wary of taking your car for service over there.
Avoid SM Mitsu at all costs.

i agree with you guys SM mitsu SUX! i got a red oz rally lancer there about five months ago and i had nothing but problems with them from the day i got it. first off when i was goin thru finances i told them i would like to wait to buy the car because i could get a much better finance rate than they offered me but they INSISTED on me getting it that night and went as far as to get me a hold check agreement for a week so i could look to see if i wanted to finance outside them. I go home and have my mom call her work union for a better finance rate.... and the lancer had been put onto our credit already and had raised our rates considerably which really pissed me off. second..... i am at the dealership and i just finish my financing and all and they tell me they r refueling the car and washing it. so im kool and very patient about it. 2 ******* hours later they tell me it is ready and they have it running outside for me. the salesman goes through all the basic stuff and i drive home (about a 30 mi drive). The next morning i go to start the car...... NOTHING no raido no electric whatsoever. so i pop the hood and check the battery through the little electrolyte hole that tells you wether the battery has any charge.... ITS DEAD.... and i look at the battery posts and they have marks all over em..... and i come to realize the problem.... THEY JUMPED THE CAR TO START IT THE NIGHT BEFORE..... they still deny it to this day but i know it happend so i got the car jump started and drove it back out there and made them replace my battery. third I also noticed a number of scratches on numerous parts of the vehicle that morning and i told them all this and they tried to pull a "well you may have done that last night" and i went off on the service dept. well i got most the scratches fixed except i was supposed to get a front headlight replacement i still havent heard about..... I REFUSE to go to santa monica mitsu for any service or anything for that matter anymore and i reccomend you all do the same
Santa Monica is ok lah... At least the guy that they use for scratches and body work is good =). I got Russ and he was an ok guy even though he went against what he said about the 3 pod gauges but other than that.. not bad.
