I heard a rumor that you nead a rollbar before you can race @ the larry h. miller track (when it opens)? Can anyone confirm this?

I can't confirm it, but I would think that they would lose out on alot of business if they made that rule. I don't think any track like that in the US has a rule like that.

I am sure that it depends on what you consider "racing". Real racing, door-to-door in some sort of series or class based group will require alot more than just a roll bar! That's racing.

Lapping days, and open tracking is what I think we are all looking to do. That usally doesn't require a cage. If car club lapping days and open track requires a cage that is THE SUCK.

It almost always comes down to the group that puts on the event. OTC, NASA, SCCA events will require ... as they do at other tracks ... that cars meet the full safety specs for the type of event. SCCA Solo track time trials are not as restrictive as full wheel-to-wheel SCCA racing.

For High Performance Driver Education (HPDE) events the safety restrictions tend to be very loose. I have pics of a guy running in convertable C5 corvette at the Cal Speedway Roval course (very high speed track because the roval is part of the long oval track that Nascar and other events run on) with no rollover protection at all.

A good ol' boxy sedan like the Evo ... I doubt there will be ANY HPDE event that you can't run in as is. Want to do wheel-to-wheel sanctioned racing? You'll almost certainly need a cage.
