Mark UP on EVO!!!

ok i'am a newbe looking to get and evo and i have been traveling this forum for a few months. Today i went with my girlfriend to Murrieta Mitsubishi because she is going to buy and eclipse pretty soon, so i could'nt help but to ask how much they were selling the EVO for.... WELL the guy there told me that it was a $3000 mark up because they can bearly make any profit on them because everyone "burns out their clutch and the warranty pays, and they drive the hell out of it, so we pay for everything." anyways i was getting kind of anxious and told him that i want to buy soon but he said that they had one of the best prices and that "dealerships in san diego have around a $5000 mark up" i ask him if he could give it to me at MSRP and he kinda chuckled and said no. Sorry for the long post, but would it be possible to get a new Evo 2004 with no sunroof/leather at MSRP or was this guy right ? I live in the riverside, CA area. THANKS

You need to shop around. Go to a different dealership.

You can buy the EVO at invoice price if your're a patient and smart buyer. I can't believe they are still marking this car up.

Theres a lot of stupid dealers. Sohail @ Hayward CA Mitsubishi is a clown. He wanted just below 32k for a use 03 tarmac black EVO w/ 1300 miles on it. Not including taxes and license. If u got to Hayward run from Sohail!!! hes a fool and knows nothing about the EVO.

Uhhhh, if they're losing money on replacing clutches, they didn't lose money on me, cuz they wouldn't fix it (burnt it out after 1500 miles).

That guy is such a liar!!! If you're really gonna buy one, say you're only gonna pay MSRP, and if they say no, walk out the door. I guarantee they'll chase you out the door and sell it to ya for MSRP.

You can get them at or below MSRP.

that is typical dealer BS. just tell him to go f himself and go to a real dealership. we all know that they can barely move the car so 500 over invoice would be my best offer. god i hate dealers, i would rather do business with a blind monkey, same IQ...

Some dealers are stupid. I got mine for MSRP about a year ago from San Rafael Mitsu, who still sells their Evo's for MSRP. Other dealers were making them up and didn't care to believe that you can get one for MSRP because they know they can rip people off. After I got the Evo, the other dealer called me and asked if I got my Evo and how much. I said duh...MSRP.

Please get the clutch repair horse sh*t in writing. Then post the hell out of it on this forum. PLEASE>!!!

Not making a profit?? Selling these things at invoice means you bought it for MSRP. So there's your profit. YOu need to buy it "under invoice" or at "dealer invoice".

Tell em you don't want a sunroof and don't want the spoiler. That'll give 'em a migrane for sure... Dummmasssesssss.

Do not. I repeat, do NOT pay markup on this car, or any car. Ever. They're not running out of Evos. There are still new 03s on lots. He's playing hardball with you, coz he's an idiot. Way I see it, you have two options: Go in there with what you want to spend, and browbeat them till they give it to you. Better option: Buy from someone else. Don't let that jackass make a dime of commission off you.
