Review on the Works IP and Exhale back

I got my IP pipe and the Exhale back from Works today. I do have to give them props for the professional packaging. Everything was wrapped nicely which a customer really admires. The exhaust did fit great especially the IP pipe (like a glove) the Exhale back sits great too but it sat a bit upwards towards the bumper (no big deal it's for racing anyways) however I wanted it to sit a bit further out and a bit lower (I can push or bend the hanger down that might help I am sure ) other than that I am very pleased with the exhaust and the bends. This thing is made with care and I give it . Now performance wise I was worried that it wont make as much power as my Helix but surprising it did and my boost was holding 24 PSI to 7800RPM just like my Helix. Sound wise (HOLY CRAP) this thing is loud . But its nice loud but not in Fairfax county: lol: . I bought it because I will use my stock muffler on the streets and when I go racing I will put my exhale back. With stock muffler (as expected) I lost 1 to 2 psi on top end. In the end I am very satisfied with Works product and I believe that they have a winning exhaust solution for streets and racing.

Glad the stuff worked out for you. I know what you mean, the AB is hella loud. Especially at WOT. By the way, did you lose the 1-2 psi with the stock muffler or the StealthWorks??? I thought I remember you saying that you were thinking about doing the StealthWorks too.

No I have the stock stock muffler nothing done to it. I might buy Works muffler later on and spray paint it all black so it wont attract cops. However, I am not sure how loud it will be. As now the car is sooo quite you wont even believe it.

Works, How loud is your IP pipe and the Works new muffler? the stock is around 86 dc? I would love to see a pic on the car and to know how loud it will be.

Thank you

I would definitely give the StealthWorks muffler a try. You definitely won't be attracting any cops with it. Also, it is as super quiet as stock but way less restrictive than stock.

Good to hear I decided a while ago this was the way to go... otherwise your always compromising to loud on the street and too restrictive at the track. Too bad I'm buying a house and have no $$.

How long does it take you to swap AB's?

az3ar did I read somwhere you put an evo 7 bumper on your 8?

it takes about 10~15 is you are good to swap them... I just could not handle getting pulled over 3 times a week for my exhaust (3 TIMES A WEEK)...it's like a full time job

The exhale back is amazing but it's freaking loud for the streets here. If I lived in Dubai or any other country I would have it on 24/7.. A cop followed me last night for 2 miles but I had my stock muffler and he could not do ****.

I was going to change to EVO7 bumper but I bought a house so now I am tight on money 

I was worried about this part when I order it but surprising enough it bolts pretty nice and I have no leaks. See works flanges are a bit smaller than Helix and a bit bigger than stock (still 3" exhaust with no nicks). No problem there

Stock muffler quite things down pretty nice and the car becomes much more fun to drive on the streets and you can go fast because cops can’t hear you anymore. I did loose 1~1.5 Psi with the stock muffler around 10~15WHP which is a lot put on the streets and in Fairfax county you have no choice. I will be buying Works new muffler and I will paint it all black hoping that cops wont see it. Any pics or reviews for people who have it??

Thanks

Glad you like the exhaust. Regarding the height of the tip, as long as everything upstream is stock or fits like stock it should sit well. In case you have other aftermarket exhaust that doesn't fit like stock, we slotted the hanger on the AB and have instructions on how to adjust the height. Basically it involves loosening the 3 flange bolts slightly, pulling down or pushing up the tip where you want. Hold it there while tightening the 3 flange bolts. Then loosen and retighten the rear slotted hanger nut. There is about .25" of adjustability there. Hope this helps.

Also, here's a pic of the new Exhale ABM installed on the EVO.

I am about to buy the ABM in the next few days. However, I would like to know exactly how loud it will be and how much it will flow. Is it straight through design or it has rooms like the stock one does? I will paint it black hoping that cops won’t notice it or see it. Your exhaust is great for me as it tucks under the bumper and its hard to see unlike my older Helix. I just hope that it will flow better than stock muffler and not be so loud as my Helix.

Thanks

The ABM enters on the side like the OEM muffler, but only has one straight-through exit and not a series of chambers for the gasses to find it's way through. The sound level is pretty low with a deeper tone. WORKS doesn't have any official measurements, but I'd say it's about 1/3 of the way inbetween the stock muffler and our AB. Performance gains are about the same (~12HP over stock), but spool takes another 100 RPMs or so in comparison to the straight-pipe design of the AB.

My review on the ABM with IP and test pipe.

2 words…. Very nice.

I have works IP with Helix test pipe. The stock muffler was choking my car to death causing me to loose 1 to 2 psi up top. The AB from works is great piece but its too loud for the streets (I love it when I go racing though) I had no choice but to try the ABM hoping and crossing my fingers that Works has the right muffler for me. BTW I got pulled over so many times with my Helix exhaust (3 times a wee, cops are every where in my area) that I gave up. I installed the ABM today and all I can say is wow, not loud at all very nice and it has some nice deep tone but not boomy. It got me the lost psi back and the car feels very smooth and so much fun to drive. I am surprised that it's not restrictive but it's not loud in the same time, which is hard mix to have in an exhaust. I have heard every exhaust on the market and I know for fact that here in Fairfax cops will pull me over everyday just for a nice shinny tip. The works muffler tucks under the bumper so it’s hard to see and has perfect fitment (like stock). Bottom line I know that it is expensive but it's top notch and the best on the market for sure.
