Boost taper with P2 flash
does it drop to 15-16psi and then climb back up to 19psi. This scenario happens when you mash it in 4th or 5th gear?
If so you probably have the older flash, the newer flash fixes that....

Correct me if I'm wrong but there will be times when boost tapers because regardless, the P2 is still controlling your boost through your ecu. So your ecu will not always let you hold your boost to redline if it doesn't sense the proper conditions. Also, the stock boost control solenoid is imprecise. If you want the boost to always hold, get a mbc.

Most MBC taper off. The twin solenoid type EBCs seems to work pretty well. You may use with our flash if you like.
Keep in mind that the stock solenoid is an electronic boost controller. WORKS controls boost by programming the ECU. There are certain times when the ECU will decide to pull boost, timing, and dump fuel (among other things). This is for safety and long term reliability, one of our main goals. We left the safety maps and functions untouched in our flash to keep that margin of safety you won’t have with an MBC or EBC.

you payed the extra buck to intelligently control boost through the ECU...use it. The ECU constantly monitors sensor readings and is there to to switch maps, boost and timing as close to the edge as possible without damaging the motor.
The P2 will further push the timing and fuel an edge closer to destruction and give you more boost while still retaining the factory safe guards.
Some people swear by MBC's, but mostly drag racers running in tightly controlled circumstances with purpose built set ups. On the street in a climate with seasons MBC's can really suck and are generally a step back in evolution.

The ebc/mbc you get will replace the factory solenoid. If you have questions regarding the P2, you should give Works a call, they are readily available and are always welcoming questions you might have.

And what is the difference between today's P2 flash for an '03 on 93 octane and the flash from a year or more ago?
Thanks.

There may have been some minor tweaks to the flash in the past year, but nothing significant to warrant a reflash at this point (unless your supporting mods have changed).
