Unhappy BOV Leaking ?

I noticed my boost did no longer hold as well as it used too, so I decied to leak test my entire induction line. I found one slow leak at 15+ psi at a coupler. However, I also tested the GFB BOV I recently bought from WORKS, and no matter how much I tightened the setting, it did not hold pressure past 12 psi. That's better than the stock one (which leaked at 6 psi!), but I would have thought the GFB BOV would hold at least up to 25 psi?

Below is a picture of my test setup, basically a plugged upper boost tube with a pressure gauge, and the BOV submerged in a bucket of water. You can see the BOV blowing a lot of air. Does the small nipple for the control line also have to see pressure for the BOV to staty closed? It was my understanding the the BOV should not open unless there's vacuum on that nipple, so with only the boost side hooked up it should stay closed.

BTW - I also noticed some oil on the outside of the BOV. So did I get a lemon? Thanks for any advice!

Yep, the small nipple needs to be hooked up to the pressure too

Let us know what you find out with the nipple seeing the pressure also. I am having boost fall off at high rpm's. I havent figured out why yet. I dont think its the BOV, but I am still searching.

the oil is there to keep things fresh if I remember correctly, been a while. I had this BOV in the past; my car did not like it but there are Evos that have great success w/ it! Void, no more MR BOV?

You're right about the oil - I RTFM'd and it says it's normal. I got rid of the JDM MR DV because I wanted an adjustable BOV .

I had stalling issues with my JDM MR DV. I switched it out for a adjustable Forge RS BOV (works great).
