WORKS P2R powers a 13.0@108mph...
I've been a long time RWD drag racer, and I've had some decent progress with my Z over the last year. Its seen pretty consistent 11.5@120-121's, and very consistent 1.6~ 60 foots.
I had the opportunity to take the evo out to a test n tune yesterday, and with my newly acquired flash, I figured I'd give it a shot. All in all I got 10 runs in, and was mildly impressed with what I was able to coax out of it. I dont think I had one launch i was impressed with however. Here are the details about the car...
2003 Evo
K&N Cone filter
WORKS P2R ECU (6000rpm 2-step, ecu controlled boost at 20psi)
Vibrant Cat-Back
Stock Clutch
The car also has a defi-boost guage, but thats irrelevant
I should point out I was running blizzack tires, and I didnt even check the tire pressure.
I ran pretty consisten low 13's, but the best of the day was this....
R/T .529
60' 1.928
1/8th 8.381
MPH 84.34
1/4 13.060
MPH 108.03
Here is the slip
The ECU was installed on my car with the anticipation of a TBE being installed. I havent received this TBE yet, so I anticipate I'll pick up some speed/time and get myself into the 12's. I'm pretty confident if I took it out again and played with the tire pressures & clutch engagement, I could have a 1.7 or better 60', which would definatley drop the overall ET. After all, this is my winter beater

Nice, you will definately be in the 12's with better launch and TBE. My question, how do you like the WORKS Diverter Valve? Does it hold the boost? How does it feel under partial throttle? Does it buckle?
Normal every day driving I dont notice it much over the stock recirc, however I really only have had the car 3 weeks now, LOL. I havent even gotten my plates in the mail
I do notice I get a bit of bucking whenever I'm at partial throttle and let off, and sometimes I'll get that compressor surge noise. Other than that it seems to hold the boost. i am told the boost will be a bit erratic until I get the complete exhaust on (since its tailored to the tune)
I agree on the luanching part. The track or the tires didnt seem to be gripping well, so I was experimenting on slipping the clutch and was having decent results. i was still getting some spin, but at the same time I didnt want to toast the stock clutch
BTW-This is the car that is featured on WORKS home page for the MOD event

how does that launch controll work with the p2r?
1) put in gear and hold clutch down
2) put your foot all the way down to the firewall and it will not rev past 6k?
3) launch as usuall, but do not drop clutch?
is this how it works? clarify please...

I always have it in gear and the clutch down when I'm doing it. I've never tried it any other way.
Going on my technical knowledge, I'd assume it was activated by the clutch switch (clutch fully depressed, grounds the circuit) and when the speed is 0. You cannot be driving in gear, pop the clutch in, and just rev it to 6k
I'm sure someone from works could explain this a little bit better for me however

I'm hoping it was just the tires. I noticed on every decent launch I had, the tires were still spinning. I've heard good and bad about running on blizzacks, some people like they're soft compound, however they dont have near as much total contact patch with the strip (compared to a tire with minimal grooves)
The clutch felt like it was also getting hot and starting to slip

i had a R/T of .003,1.712 60' 1/4 13.120 MPH 103 i think i can do better that that maybe can do a 12.8 my self and this winter i am going on a diet!
cus i have to lose 100 pounds and get a better time.I think you can do better as well just practice, lauching an AWD car is harder than RWD AND FWD.

Softer compound might wheel spin a bit more, preventing bogging and allowing the turbo to build up steam on lower hp cars. Not ideal though, by any stretch
trust me guys, I'll get the launching down......
