As one of the people who experienced this failure, I've been in close contact with Pete and Kirk about this issue. I believe they are treating the matter with all the seriousness and priority that it merits; my only criticism would be that they should be more communicative about it.

I guess what everybody wants to know is, is there a fundamental problem with the TKS brake lines, and that's not an easy question to answer.

In the meantime I'd encourage anyone who tracks their cars to closely inspect their brake lines--WORKS or otherwise. Note that this same failure has occurred with stock brake lines as well; if you have any doubt as to the condition or safety of your brake components, you should repair/replace them immediately.

Thunderhill 12/11- results from testing & inspection:
After tracking my Evo, Oliver's Evo and the Time Attack Evo for (5) 30min. sessions, we found no issues w/ regards to the brakelines. We are continuing the research and will keep you posted on further developments.

If anyone has more concerns please feel free to call us anytime during business hours.

Sincerely, Kirk

Any update? Or is this just going to be swept under the rug? Instead of taking some car to the track with them you should be inspecting the ones that failed, find which batch they came from and see if they too have the same fault. Taking a random sample is not good enough guys. Do you even know why they originally failed? I've read the post on NorCalEvo with your vauge explaination, but nothing pointed to "it was this piece that failed because of this".

Three failures in the space of a few months seems lilke more than just an isolated failure. That being said I know Pete and his crew have tested a lot of lines in order to better understand the problem. It could very well have been a bad batch but it's not clear if we'll ever know because I don't think they track that kind of information. The new lines do have beefier fittings so I imagine that should reduce the likelihood of failure.

Anyway I look forward to hearing from WORKS about what they've found out so far.

Isolated? I didn’t say it was isolated, what I really wanted to say was “you drag your feet more than Fred Flintstone Tam!” That’s what was really on my mind!!!! (j/k bud )

I'm one of the guys who had the Works line fail on my at the track. Actually twice.

Is this what your Works lines look like?

http://www.norcalevo.net/forums/viewtopic.php?t=6054

Personally, I think if your brakes are getting hot enough to melt the teflon coating over the brake lines, you are at risk for a brake line failure. Both of my brake lines that failed showed damage/melting of the teflon coat.

take it for what its worth. just my observations/opinion

WORKS New lines

Currently, we have completed the new prototype for the WORKS (WRP) brakelines that are designed specifically for track use. These new lines will be out within 8 weeks.

We have our current TKS lines in stock that are recommended for street application. That being said I have over 27 track events on my set w/o any issues.
