WORKS Clutch Line Problems???

Any comments or potential solutions would be recommended.

I brought my car into the dealership to have them resurface the rotors and put new brake pads on under warranty. Since the car was already in the shop I figured I would just have them install the WORKS TKS Clutch Line.

Well I heard it took a good couple of hours as they were having problems bleeding the system properly when doing the clutch line install but did manage to get it bled properly.

I drove the car over the last couple days and things seemed good. Then I noticed that on 2 different occasions once on Thursday and once on Friday I have been at a stop and have had the clutch just barely engaged and while I am in the process of releasing the clutch and giving gas to move the car from a stop I have noticed that the clutch the pedal seems to stick/rebound really slow as I am letting it back up.

It's only done this twice so far in about the last 150 miles of driving. Since I didn't have this problem in 13000 miles on the factory clutch line I was wondering if there could there still be an air bubble in the clutch line that only surfaces at a certain point while driving and engaging/disengaging the clutch that is causing this symptom?

Should I take it back to the dealership and have them re-bleed the system again?

Thank you for any help!

It could be some air in the line. I would also double check to make sure the fittings at both ends are properly torqued. If one is loose, it could be allowing some air in/fluid out.

Well I brought the car back into the dealership and they indicated that when they bled the line a 2nd time there was no air in the line.

I still notice that when I modulate the clutch pedal enough that I can get it to stick literally to the floor and it will slowly come back up or I have to take the car out of gear pump the pedal and it comes back.

Any other ideas, they claim everything is good on the install and that the line has NO air in it.

Could it be a back clutch line? I find this hard to believe with the quality of the WORKS components but I don't know what else to do other than keep taking it back or get my 2 hours billable time refunded and take it to another performance shop around town and have them do the install.

I think you should re-read the service manual on the section about "Brake Booster Operating Test".

Were talking about the clutch line/clutch pedal not brake pedal.

If the line was bad it would leak under compression. Check for any leaks and reblead the line. Takes 2 people unless you have the fancy pressurize tool. Dealership probably fed it up. I takes quite a while till the clutch feels good. Keep an eye on the resevoir cuz the back clutch area is small and it empties quickly. If you get bubbles sucked in you have to start over.

I just had one installed myself thought I haven’t had any problems with it. Maybe they didn’t take the restrictor pill out of the slave cylinder or they put it in the wrong way causing the fluid to flow back slowly?

I can make the problem happen if I modulate the clutch enough (i.e. push it down/let it up) and then it literally will stick to the floor of the vehicle maybe couple inches up and either not come back or come back slowly.

I didn't request that the restrictor pill be removed, I didn't think they had to remove it when upgrading the line to the SS.

We typically leave the pill intact unless specifically requested to remove, so I don't think that's the issue. WORKS has not heard of any issues with the clutch line. While I don't think the part is the issue, it's still not out of the realm of possibility. The clutch sticking to the floor is usually indiciative of air in the line. Are you having any troubles getting into gear from a stand still with the engine running (especially reverse)?

No, I am not experiencing any problems at a stand still while the car is running when trying to put it into gear.

BTW, I had the dealership put the stock line back in and ALL is well so far. I will drive it over the next couple of days pretty religously around the city so there is plenty of modulation with the clutch pedal to make sure it was not an air/line issue.

If the issue doesn't come back with the stock line in place then the only thing I can attribute as the problem would be a faulty SS line.

I should know more in the next couple of days of driving.

Thanks for all the help/input! I appreciate it!

Yeah, I think I will send it back for you guys to take a look at if that's OK. I love the design and look of that line. I am wondering if there is just maybe a defect somewhere or if something happened as far as it being damaged that I cannot see on the surface.

The line is awesome so no criticism of the product itself or WORKS. I wouldn't buy your products if I didn't have great experiences and they didn't function/perform as advertised.

BTW, P2r flash, Works diverter valve and 76mm Intermediate pipe and Stealthworks muffler is a killer combo and works and performs flawlessly! Thanks again for all your assistance Jamie.
