269 cams vs the hks 272

Any opinions on these 2 sets of cams? Has anyone switched between the 2?

We've tested the cams during development of the WORKS 269 cams back in the day. What we found was that the 272 grind may give a bigger number on the dyno, but was also rather "peaky" which, in turn, led to a "valley" elsewhere on the graph. The 269 cams may not produce a larger peak value, but provide a much broader, useable powerband. If you were driving around all day within a few hundred RPMs, the 272 grind may be suitable, but most of our customers use a few thousand RPMs and that's where the 269 cams shine. The WORKS cams will idle smoother as well, although that's a bit subjective

I'll throw this in for whats its worth. I raced a guy (on the track ) We had pretty much identical mods he had 272's and different tuner (not WORKS) and we raced 3 times and I beat him everytime. Also my car passed smog with the WORKS 269 cams

same mods? how well was he tuned? the thing is i'd seriously doubt that works themselves would claim that their cams make more power than the 272s. they were the first to say that theirs were more mild with durability and streetability in mind.

I agree, but they also said they make more "usable" power. We didnt have identical mods, as far as brands but the same parts. I cant speak for the tune, but I can assure you I could pull everytime. Oh also forgot to mention it was an 05 too. Who knows I think my Evo was pretty strong, never lost to another 8. My point is even with 269 cams my car ran pretty good, enough to beat other similarly modded Evos from other tuners.

usable power is mostly about cam timing... i assure you the 272s have a configuration that can out power the works 269s.

unless of course the 269 actually does not indicate the correct relative duration in regards to hks specs.
