269 Cams, springs and retainers

WORKS,

I was talking to LSE Performance in Minnesota about doing the cams, springs, retainers and throttle body and possiblly do the head studs.

The question I have is does the engine need to be pressurized or the head taken off for any of this work, more specifically for the head studs?

Maybe I misunderstood what the person was talking about but I just thought I would ask.

Hello Mark,

The head studs do not require pressurization and/or head removal. However, the Valve Springs will require the engine to be pressurized and/or have the head removed. The Valve Springs will also require a tool to make the job much easier, which basically is a spring compressor. Also, care needs to be taken with the retainers, so that you don't lose one or even worse, have one fall into the motor

Hope this helps.

Sincerely,

Oliver Simons

Do you have a preference between pressurizing the cylinders or just having the head removed? Sounds like just removing the head and replacing the gasket is the best route from what I am gathering...

Head removal would be best as far as the head studs go, but not required for either.
