Differential Mounts

Works,

Are these the mounts that you sell on your site?

-Rear Rear Differential Housing*
-Rear Differential Support Arm*

What durometer rating are they?

Both of these are being installed in my 9 as we speak (along with the other bushings in the WORKS kit).

I'm looking forward to the results!

can you please post up or PM me when you are done. I would like to know the impression especially on high RPM shifts under load.

I have the Beatrush Diff mount spacers and the driveshaft bushings...if u don't have those i recommend them highly. I could def feel a difference in the shifting feel.

No prob! I'll definitely let you know the before and after impressions.

The reason I decided to have the diff bushings installed was to eliminate the 'clunk' I experienced sometimes when shifting quickly. Some refer to it as "snap-shifting". I just figured the rest of the WORKS bushing kit would eventually wind up in there as well, so I took the plunge on the whole shebang. I also took the opportunity to have the front motor mount replaced with the AMS poly mount, so that might color my impressions of shifting improvement (due to less engine movement under load transition).

I'll get the Evo back tomorrow evening most likely, but I'll subscribe to the thread and chime in once I've gotten some seat time!

I have the front engine mount as well as the side one (near the cams). Very big improvement in movement. Prob one of the best mods i've done so far.
Looking forward to ur update though...been contemplating the full bushing set as well.

Alright --- just got the evo back this evening!

1st impressions with the poly bushings: these things are just right! I'm telling you, it seems that WORKS really thought through the entire bushing kit because you expect to be pounded to bits from the transmitted vibration, but it's not the case at all. It's more like the car's suspension feels tighter, but with a degree of civility that's quite surprising. It's just like the suspension works BETTER. Weird.

Please keep in mind, I had the ENTIRE bushing kit installed, so I can't say for sure if the perceived result would be the same with just a few bits installed. BTW, In addition to the bushings, I've also got the WORKS rear strut brace, rear sway, and CROX plate on as well and I'm sure they're contributing to the overall effect (but those were on WAY before the bushings).

At the same time, I also had a new poly front engine mount installed from AMS, which has the same durometer rating as the Energy Suspension bushings currently available, and this was probably the most radical change of all. With the new front mount, I can feel the engine idling right through the steering wheel! There's also a bit more cabin noise and resultant vibration, but nothing the stereo can't mask easily. Once you start moving though, the vibration stops and you only notice the slightly increased cabin noise, in addition to the presence of very precise shifter and steering feel --- which was the whole point of this mod.

In a nutshell, I've very pleased. The car feels extremely composed (moreso than I will ever reasonable call for on my daily commute), and as taut as it was before, it's hardly any less civilized for the trouble.

Nice job again WORKS (and you too, AMS)!

kekek,

I'll be getting under the car tonight to make sure the exhaust was repositioned "just right" because I'm thinking my exhaust got a hair louder. I was initially thinking that the techs may not have secured snugged the slip-sleeve for the catback, but I suppose it could be that I'm hearing / feeling a bit more from the rear diff.

I'll just poke around and make sure!

Alright --- I poked around . . . tightened up the exhaust . . . adjusted the hangers . . . checked for clearances, etc, etc.

And you know what? I think I can hear more from the rear diff --- but not so much that it's annoying, it's kinda like I'm getting enough vibration from the chassic to tell if something was amiss in the rear (insert Beavis laugh here).

But I think that's probably a good thing!

Suprisingly, the rear diff housing bushings made the most pronounced difference from an NVH standpoint. I definitely noticed a little more vibration being transmitted through the chassis when encountering bumps, but haven't noticed any noise variation. I've been daily driving with the WORKS USB Kit for about 6K miles now and really hasn't affected a thing other than this

I was just curious about other peoples experiences. Those bushings were by far the most in need of upgrade. The OEM ones are wide open, similar to the trailing arm, but worse.

I noticed a big jump in decel noise coming from the rear diff after installing these, they've been on the car for about 10k now. I have the Energy Susp (Works had not released these yet) on the support arm (mustache bar) and Works on the diff carrier itself. I also have an 03 and as we all know those drivetrains weren't the best.

No worries, takes a licking and keeps on ticking.

Hey zwampy,

Where'd you get your driveshaft bushings? Were they from Kamispeed? I can see the ones online for the Evo 8, and I just wanted to make sure they're the ones that go in the nine as well. I know it's a kinda numbskull thing to ask, because I can't for the life of me see why they'd differ, but I just want to be sure.

Thanks!
