WORKS P2 flash via mail

Hi,

I'm looking into WORKS P2 flash as final step of my mods.
But I'm now located in NH and moving out of country to Korea, both of which are too far from SF.

Here's my situation.
I've put on a couple of stuff on my evo and
am going to install a couple more after I move to Korea.
And then I want to do WORKS P2 flash to complete my tune.

Here's the list of parts have been installed.
HKS Racing Suction kit
HKS Hi-power Catback
Ralliart Spark Plug
JDM MR BOV

And these are to be installed in Korea
HKS 264in/272ex cam
HKS downpipe
WORKS HFC
Hallman MBC
maybe O2 housing

Here's my question.

Is it ok and safe to mail my ECU to you to get WORKS P2 flash without bringing the car to you?
(Well there is no other way to get ECU flashed by you, though)

Based on my setup, do I need upgrade on fuel system for example bigger fuel pump and injectors?
Do I need reinforced valve and spring set for HKS cam?

Do I still need Hallman MBC on top of WORKS P2 flash?
The reason I want MBC is that I would want to tweak the boost level on my own within the safe range.
Does the MBC interfere with WORKS P2 flash in controlling peak boost level?

I'm looking forward to hearing from you.
Thanks,

Yes that should be fine. Just mail us the ECU with the completed checklist ( http://www.worksevo.com/WORKS_Mitsub..._Checklist.pdf )

The MBC is not needed because the P2 Brain Flash controls boost with the factory ECU and boost control solenoid.

With those mods the stock fuel system should be fine.

Thanks for quick response!
But the reason I want a MBC is to increase peak boost level by a couple of psi's over stock peak level.
My understanding is that P2 flash gets rid of boost taper at high rpm range
but does not increase peak boost level.
Any comments?

Correct. A MBC would let you do that....

If i were to order a p2 flash would I need to specify a desired peak boost level?

Read Tylers post you have to fill out this checklist.

Well, this is news to me and I would like some clarification on the matter. If I'm understanding what I read correctly WORKS P2R flash only eliminates the boost taper. So when I ordered the P2R flash and put 22psi down as the peak boost level on the checklist it only means the FLASH will accept 22psi of boost when I use a manual boost controller....right?

We can set the boost however you like with the P2 Flash. You don't need a boost controller, unless you want to be able to change the boost levels from where we set it.

Will that cause my car to run overly rich? It seems to make sense to be able to tame the car to a lower boost level when not needed?

I gotta tell you, people have started making me fearful and skeptical of a mail in flash...

The EVO runs overly rich from the factory. If you want to utilize an external boost controller, that's up to you. The load generated on lower boost levels utilizes different areas of the maps and will help dictate fuel, timing, etc... We do not recommend running higher boost levels than those dictated on the original checklist received with the ECU, which (by default) is ~20 PSI.

I'm planning on doing basic mods... exhaust, intake, cams, headers, fuel pump... but I have 2 questions... 1st is it possible to raise the boost to 25 psi on a stock turbo, and 2nd I'm thinking about spraying a 50 shot of zex, they say it's relatively "safe" with their computer controlled box, but if I can't use it with my p2R flash then I won't get it. I would really like to up the boost on my stock turbo setup though, please let me know what you would consider the most I can raise it without too much risk.

You can run higher boost levels, but there are two huge limiting factors:
A) The octane of the fuel
B) The effeciency of the turbo

Pump gas and 25 PSI generally do not mix well (without water/meth injection at least). If you're planning on running 100+ octane, you could get by, but then there's the other factor involved. The OEM turbo is outside of its efficiency range at that level and you'll be blowing more hot air, which negatively impacts performance. You'd probably want to consider the FP Green for that boost level and will need supporting fuel mods (pump and injectors) as well.

Personally, I'm not a fan of nitrous and would recommend against it. There are plenty of other ways to increase power without relying on the spray. If you're sitting at 999 HP and need that something extra to hit 1000+ HP on your glory run dyno pull, then go for it.
