Recomended Fuel

Was looking at the P1 thread about fuel mileage and wanted to get some feedback on fuel type. Which brand of fuel should we run...or not run. Or what are people using. Wasn't sure if there were any performance/maintenance benefits to running Chevron, Shell, etc. for street use.

Thanks

usually stick with a good brand name. try different brands in your car. some may work better than others for you. stay away from the smaller mom and pop places and you will be fine. always use the highest octane for your tune of course. i personally use 91 and amsoil octane boost as a security blanket. never had an issue at all to my knowledge.

I'm going to date myself but back in the day 76 was the only thing I used. When the revamped unleaded fuels hit Cali I had better luck with Chevron. The Evo seems to like Shell, so does our old 3000 GT, go figure.

It's usually a personal preference with the major difference coming from the additives blended in to each company's mixture. Keep in mind that pump gas can be highly variable even from the same company/station. We don't have a specific gasoline brand we stick with or tune for and have found (through testing) that the WORKS Brain Flash software will continue to compensate if a "bad" tank of gas is encountered.
