Important Announcement Re: Brain Flash P2
Caymandiver,
when you install it you'll see how I ripped it
well maybe not if you can get your hands on it better from the bottom. I ended up just pulling on it after getting some tiny vice grips on it. I tried many times to be gentle and do it by hand but could not get my fingers to the very end of the hose that connects closest to the motor. It's just a small section of vacume hose that connects to the T so easy enough to replace if I ever need to.
trev,
I did it from the top. I posted above and one other time about the problems I encountered. It can be done though. WORKS will send you a picture of the top part of the hose with the directions.
It's directly under the airbox. If you follow it down you'll see a T section in it. Just replace the whole thing with the new one. It looks exactly the same.
I'm sure the new directions will be better than the ones I received as they were of no use and would have led to problems had I used them. The diagram was all wrong.
take care

I used a tiny L-shaped pry-bar to hook the hose from the front edge and pull. This is the trick for removing stubborn vaccuum hoses. If you just pull out on it, you get the same results as the old chinese finger-cuffs trick.....it tightens on the nipple instead of breaking free.
Pulling from the front edge causes the hose to bunch up expanding its circumfrence and voila...off it pops!
Btw-use a little duct tape and cover the sharp edges of the fan housing to avoid accidently slashing your hands or wrists. Oh yeah plan on having a very small set of spring-loaded needle nose to pinch and pull the clamp back with.
This entire project can be done from the top just removing the air box, and removing the Dv to give the turbo inlet hose a little more flexibility.......Piece of cake!

I'm going to do the install from the bottom, but I can already tell you its a pain in the ***!! Those plastic screws and clips that hold the underpanel on about 15 of them got screwed up trying to remove them. Now I have to go to the dealer and buy several to replace the ones I ripped out. I'm starting to feel a bit of regret doing this project and I sure hope that replacing the hoses will be a bit easier from the bottom.
will this hose replacement for P2 void warranty?
i talked to my service manager and he said that any Boost Controller will void warranty.
please tell me that P2 hardware will not be visible when i take my car in for a service?

Is this psi ok long term? What mods do you have other than P2?

1.5 KG/CM2 = 21.3 psi =1.4 bar.
Close enough for government work.

I have a 3" turboback but with the stock cat so I'm probably boosting a little less. No boost gauge yet so I can't say what psi I'm getting.
Anyone,
thoughts on running 3" turboback and 21.3 psi long term?
For those of you doing the P2 ECU upgrade and plan to do the work on the T hose assebly the clips are a pain in the butt to get off and you'll probably end up breaking a few of them. If so the dealer charges 2.87 each!! If you call San Rafael Mitsubishi they can get them much cheaper for us. Ask for Mike and he'll sell them to you for 1.04 each!
Caymandiver,
does it look like it will be any easier to get at the hose from the bottom?
2.87 each! What a rip. I'm guessing your talking about the plastic fasteners on the undertray, not the metal spring hose clips?
