You wont see a performance gain with any intake. The only reason to go with an open intake like buschur or rmr is so you can hear your blow off valve. A drop in doesn't even get you that. The evo's stock air box works great.
Maybe I'll throw my stock air box back on for a while and see if there is any difference. Maybe just for winter when everyone has their windows up, then in summer I'll let everyone hear my blow off valve again.

I heard David talking about an Evo intake Works is developing. Sounds very promising and he mentioned some special little things they are doing to accualy have it produce power.
I'm not an engineer.... yet (almost there) but I'm pretty sure most open air intakes out there don't help HP at all. The K&N drop in's haven't had any proven gains over the stock filter. The stock intake is your best bet.

Hows that Forged DV working for ya? Do you have that fluttering noise? I had one but couldn't get rid of the fluttering and sold it to my friend with a DSM.

I have the HKS racing suction kit and it works great with the P2. I tried switching back to stock airbox once, and the car felt really sluggish (with power dip at around 6K rpm). With P2 and RS intake, the turbo kicks in before 2K rpm, and pulls hard from 2.5K to redline.

As good as our forthcoming intake seems like it is shaping up to be -- and believe me, we are covering all the bases on this one -- I wouldn't expect monster power gains out of our, or any other, intake.
If you're looking for bang-for-the-buck, there are other components offered by WORKS that will offer a much higher HP to $ spent ratio. That said, some people really like the looks and sound of an upgraded open element air intake. Since many of the intakes seem to lose power, the least we could do is design one that makes consistent power gains, even if these are smaller than what one could achieve by spending the same money on exhaust or ECU mods.

In my observation, I think the aem intake actually help me out, especially during the winter month when it is much colder outside and the air is much more dense. Second, the aem combo with a nice catback can really help the evo gain some high end power. And I have noticed that when I hit the gas on the highway. As far as running too rich, I dont really know. It seems like my fuel milage has remained the same if not better. The turbo seemed to spool up a little sooner too. As for the sound, it has gotten old with me. The stock BOV sound is horrible with the any open air intake. I'm thinking about upgrading to the greddy s bov.
Does anybody in here running the aem intake combo with catback and P2 flash? Or turboback? Please reply to this post if you are. Peace...
