WORKS Upgraded Clutches and Flywheels Available NOW!

Details on our products page at www.worksrally.com. C1, C2 and Spin are available now, C3 is coming soon:

Description: Making power is one thing...getting it to the ground is another matter. WORKS’ new line of clutch upgrades for the EVO 8 is now available to help ensure that the extra power offered by WORKS’ engine performance parts is finding its way to the pavement.

WORKS Clutch Kit C1:
Ideal for the street-level enthusiast with basic bolt-ons seeking a clutch with stock pedal feel but with extra holding power. Not recommended for drag race applications.
- High performance street system
- Holding capacity: 75% over stock
- Super-Duty reinforced pressure plate
- High Leverage pressure ring design
- Sprung hub/cushioned disc
- Steel backed organic friction material

Comes complete with:
- Pressure Plate
- Clutch Disc
- Throw-out Bearing
- Alignment Tool

Price: $649.00 each

Availability: Now

WORKS Clutch Kit C2:
Ideal for the weekend Road Race, Drag Race, AutoX and/or RallyX driver looking for additional holding power beyond the Clutch Kit C1. This set-up will increase pedal stiffness.
- Heavy-duty street & racing system
- Holding capacity 115% over stock
- Super-Duty reinforced pressure plate
- High Leverage pressure ring design
- Sprung hub/cushioned disc
- Steel backed Segmented Carbon/Kevlar

Comes complete with:
- Pressure Plate
- Clutch Disc
- Throw-out Bearing
- Alignment Tool

Price: $869.00 each

Availability: Now

WORKS Clutch Kit C3:
The Twin-Disc design is ideal for completion use in Drag, Drift, Road Race and Rally applications and provides nearly stock pedal feel with tremendous power holding capability. Staging Line 3 includes a lightweight flywheel. Trade-offs with this package are limited to a high purchase price and a more difficult to modulate feel compared to the single disc applications in Clutch Kit C1-C2. Includes integrated lightweight flywheel.

Availability: Coming Soon

WORKS Spin:
A lightweight flywheel reduces rotating mass for quicker throttle response and a livelier and faster revving engine. The WORKS Spin, weighing a scant 9 pounds, will make rev-matching on downshifts that much easier and allow the turbo to stay on boost more effectively. While it takes a little while to get a feel for launching a car with the lightweight flywheel, we have found drivability trade-offs to be perfectly acceptable (even in San Francisco with the notorious steep hills). The WORKS Spin features a hardened center section and replaceable outer wear area for easy and cost-effective maintenance.
- Reduced mass equals increased acceleration
- 6061-T6 aircraft grade billet aluminum
- Steel for the friction surface
- OEM steel ring gear secured by bolts

Price: $499.00 each ($449.00 When purchased with WORKS Clutch Kit)

Availability: Now

Looks like a C-2 and new flywheel for the Evo, should be just right for bracket racing.

How is these new friction materials different from stock, will they survive slipping/launches?

Damn, that pressure plate looks just like the stock one if it isn't painted blue. Are all the pressure plates blue? The clutch also looks like the stock clutch with minor differences.

Both clutches are a step up from holding power compared to stock if for no other reason than the heavy-duty pressure plate. However, if you are looking to slip the clutch a bit under hard launching, the C2's carbon/kevlar friction surface will hold up to repeated hard launches much better than the organic surface on the C1. The upcoming C3, on the other hand, will take tons of abuse -- even from the mega horsepower monsters that people are now building -- but is not at all what one would characterize as a "slippable" clutch by any means.

Could i get the C2 without the blue paint to make it really stealthy and hopefully keep my warranty?

Yes, black paint would definitely be a plus. I don't need my clutch to look pretty.

I was thinking just the plain metal, just like the stock pressure plate. No Mitsubishi tech would know the difference.

OK just metal, I figured the stock one was black. Whatever the stock one looks like is what I would want.

We can do custom colors or even a bare metal finish for an additional $20.

What is the major difference in the ability to launch the Evo with a new lightweight flywheel?

In reality, it is not a major difference. Basically, it makes it a little more difficult to modulate or feather the throttle since the revs climb so fast. This does a couple of things for you, on the one hand it eliminates bog at launch and allows one to get the car on boost quicker, on the other hand it makes the throttle input a lot more sensitive.

On the downshifting end of things, since there is less mass to keep the flywheel spinning, the revs drop much quicker. This is a big plus for rev matching on downshifts when you don't want to disrupt the balance of the car on a downshift (for example, late entry or "threshold" braking).

Bottom line, it is very livable, will make your car faster both in straight line and in corners and chicks dig it! (well, not sure about that last part).
