26 seems a bit odd...are you sure your gauge is dialed in properly? If it is at 26 in 5th gear that is definately not normal. Get on the phone with WORKS and see if they have any ideas.

Well, that doesn't seem to make sense. If you floor it at 2K on 5th gear, I don't think there is enough RPM to boost that high unless Evo some how makes peak boost at low RPM with P2 reflash. Turbine only spins as fast as the exhaust velocity. I could see it spiking if you floor it at high RPM but at low RPM, I'm not to sure.

Is the turbo even spooling yet at 2k?? I don't think so, not until like 3200-3500.

what i am saying is, as the turbo spools from 2k and up and once boost starts to build, the boost spikes.

it is almost like, when the rpms are high and i floor it, the car doesnt spike at all....but if i floor it from a low rpm the turbo seems to over spool causing the big spike. kinda of hard to explain...try...the next time you are the highway and are just cruisin, floor it in 5th and see how the boost spikes...

fyi..i am also runnin a complete open exhaust...UR 3" TB with test pipe

Hey SuperchargedGTZ: It's a known problem with really open exhausts. There have been reports of spikes anywhere between 21 and 24 and I don't know if there's much to be done (or really even if it matters).... if you are definitely getting 26 that's a worry however. Regardless, give the Works guys a call and I'm sure they'll sort you out.

That could be it, the full open exhaust. Hope someone could find a fix.

What kind of boost gauge to do have?? Mechanical or Electrical??
Where does your needle point when the car is off??? Is it set perfectly to zero??

Some gauges (like mine) sit at like 1.5 psi - therefore, when it's reading 24.5 - it's really only reading 23psi. There's been a couple of bad batches and reports of guages starting out at 5psi! Might want to double-check this.

i had the p2 flash done im only running 17psi in any gear

for the money we have spent figure we would get a good
product.

i called them they told me my guage was wrong
i have tried 3 guages all say the same thing 17 max

i have checke for vacum leaks and so forth all is ok
i just dont hit 19 like i was told. for 17 psi i runs fine but thats not what i paid for.

oh well my 2 cents i know i will not get anything or changes
from them.

Is this accurate?
I know if you have the new wastegate, and NOT the P2; then you'll have uncontrolled boost... bad.
However, what about if you have the P2, but still the stock wastegate hose with the pill still in it? What happens then?

Taper! You can run the boost solenoid at 100% duty cycle with the stock pill/hose combo and you will get taper. Put the new pill/hose combo and you will (in all instances I have seen) get pretty rock solid boost that doesn't taper.

I get the same "spike" up around 25 PSI with stock cat back under the same circumstances. In 5th gear doing around 65 or so if I floor it boost stays at 25 PSI up to about 100mph or so (at the track of course). A friend of mine installed a cat back system and his boost is now "spiking" at 26.5 PSI or so again only in top gear. All other gears boost spikes for a very very short time at 23 PSI or so and tapers under 20. Defi D-Series boost gauge.

Well, I was having an "overboost" issue as well, I thought it was because of the P2. I actually got the SES light and pulled the code it was overboost. I figured it was my P2 since it started hapening after I got the flash. I talked to Tyler and Pete about it and today I got some time to go down there and have it checked out. First off let me say their custonmer service is awesome, I know they are usually more expensive, but I'll gladly pay a bit more for service like I have recieveed.

Anyways, the problem turned out to be my spark plugs. I guess maybe they were right on the edge of going bad and teh extra boost or whatever pushed them over. Tyler installed some new plugs and Pete and I took the car out for a spin, and nothing, it didnt hit fuel cut like before and the car feels a lot stronger now. Anyways, just thought I'd share, if you havent changed the plugs in a while you might want to do so.
