Question WORKS exhaust vs Standard 3"

Ok, I'm really having a hard time deciding on which exhaust to get. Works says 2.75" is the perfect size for the stock turbo, but everyone else is using 3" If 2.75" is really the perfect size, then why is everyone getting 3"

I am afraid if I get the works exhaust its going to be too loud. I have seen videos of the B&B and I must say it is beautiful both in looks and sound.

So why should I get the Works catback and not B&B? I'm having a hard time justifying spending a few hundred dollars more for works with no muffler and smaller pipe diameter. I currently have the P2, which I have been very happy with so far. The only other plans I have for the car in the future is a dp (works) and maybe the Works cams later on.

Which system will give me the most power gain and at the same time not be too loud?

The WORKS modular 3-piece Exhale series exhaust components allow Evo enthusiasts to quickly and easily mix and match the Exhale AB (Axle Back), IP (Intermediate Pipe) and DP (Down Pipe) with the factory Evo VIII exhaust components. The Exhale series are all manufactured with 100% T-304 Stainless Steel, includes all of the necessary gaskets, heat resistant hardware, and installation instructions and covered by WORKS’ factory matched 3-year, unlimited miles warranty.

Exhale AB: Featuring a gradual, custom bend radius for maximum flow, a slotted hanger for adjustability, and a polished 114mm contoured tip to match the lines of the Evo's rear bumper which incorporates a thermal liner to prevent heat discoloration and a drain-hole for maximum durability. All while saving 12.5 lbs. behind the rear axle.

Exhale IP: Minimal bends and maximum flow proper sizing are the secret to outflowing the factory intermediate pipe. The Exhale IP2 does away with the in-line resonators found on the stock exhaust for uninterrupted flow. For Evos that use the factory turbo, the 70mm version of the IP2 has proven itself on the dyno to be the perfect size.
The Exhale IP will also be available in a 76mm version (both resonated and non-resonated versions) for the Evo Enthusiast with an upgraded turbocharger.

Exhale DP: Using 70mm with a unique thermal ceramic coating both inside and out, the Exhale DP keeps the heat in rather than radiating it outwards. By keeping the heat in the piping, the Exhale DPs thermal coatings prevents the intense heat reaching the factory oil pan, as well as maximizes the velocity of exhaust gases (exhaust gases slow down as they cool). Just as importantly, by keeping the heat where it belongs, the WORKS Exhale ensures that the factory catalytic converter is promptly lit off for trouble-free emissions testing. As would be expected from WORKS parts, the Exhale DP has no clearance issues with the factory cross braces and maintains appropriate clearances from the factory oil pan. The Exhale DP is also compatible with the WORKS Croxx Plate undercarriage brace. Mounting hardware, gasket, and simple installation instructions included.

Hey Caymandiver75,
I was in the same situation as you, trying to figure out which exhaust to buy and needing more info on Works. I tried calling them a couple of times one day with no luck. I ran out of patience and bought the AVO catback, which is similar to the b&b. The only definite benefit of Works catback without a dynograph, soundclip, and pictures, is the weight savings. At least you know some things about the b&b, and you could always get a custom muffler delete made for it if you wanted.
