Question Works versus.......

I am an avid fan of the evolutionm.net, though I am not very well versed in the more technical details of car tuning or car racing.

I have, however, come to understand the basic thrust of the various tuning shops:

Dynoflash and Buschur: drag-strip racing and high numbers on "dynos"....

Vishnu: competitive road-racing/rally?...the one-lap and the current C&D competition are proof of this aim and the success in this endeavor.

Where is works hoping to shine....

Are you hoping to get into the major competitions when you have a ramped up and fully operational works race car?

I am hoping to go all out with works tuning, as I have liked everything I have read about the research and intensive effort going into your work, and a works tuned car that can compete will seal the deal for me, and doubtless, many other future evo tuners.

Thank you for inquiring as we're sure other enthusiasts want to know as well.
We currently have four EVOs in our stable that are in a constant state of flux. We have decided to keep one of them Stock all of the time to use it as a baseline reference.
Two of the other EVOs are always morphing in different configurations as we perform constant research and development.
Our flagship EVO (for now) is the silver one you have probably seen in magazines. This car was raced all last season and is racing this season in SCCA Rallying-Xing. (We placed 3rd last year in the open class without rally tires!) In addition we have AutoXed where we placed 1st and 2nd in our class and we are constantly road racing 2 of the EVOs every other week on the West Coast. Recently at the first EVO Challange Event (w/splotchy timing) at the Streets of Willow Springs, we placed 1st.
This EVO is a daily driver where all of these mods are totally obtainable by the public for their street cars. We are in the process of building a totally incredible dedicated racing machine and are hoping to have it completed by early 2005.
To our knowledge, we are the only EVO Tuner who is consistently Rallying and Road Racing all year round!

PS There is an upcoming magazine article that showcases what the editors felt were the top contending Road Race cars from the U.S. and Japan battling head-to-head where WORKS was invited. The car did OK but didn't even hint at any drivetrain, suspension, or braking issues on the Track all day. It was totally solid and bulletproof. Next time we're going to step it up a notch and push the envelope with the same reliability.
*Look out for our new line of extreme parts available through the WORKS Racing Program mid-summer 2004.

Thanks for you interest in WORKS as we strive to design the best Engineered products for the EVO.

Question

EM, thanks for the prompt response.

I have two more question though: where can I find in-depth info about the SCCA, and the various types of races (other than the difficult to navigate web-site).

Also, what is the name and url of the magazine that featured the works star car?

Again, thanks for the info, I am even more anxious to get my hands on an evo...

Who's EM??

I'm thinking the Extreme parts will be an Extreme secret. I'd like to know too though. Might alter my buying patterns....

…I didn’t take time to check your region but for good start-up information check out www.sfrscca.org. That’s the web site for the San Francisco Region of the SCCA.

The "extreme" products either compromise the drivability and/or reliability of your EVO or they just require more maintenence than you've come to expect with typical WORKS products.
There are already several products in development and some will carry over to the WRP (WORKS Racing Program) but it's a sure bet these radical products will push your EVO more towards the ragged edge. Unfortunately there will be a shorter warranty than typical WORKS Performance Products. Stay tuned...
