P2 with upgrades
P2 with upgrades
Hey, Im new here, my name is Grant. I have been hearing of some problems with the P2, such as having an aftermarket intake, or some misfire error codes? I have a HKS turbo back exhaust, AEM Short ram intake, and the HKS SSQV that is set up VTA. I was wondering if someone from Works could help me out. Im just looking to make sure that the P2 will work in my car and not bring up any problems or CEL's. Anyone have any advice?
I don't think the problems has anything to do with the P2, but has everything to do with the Evo in general.
I'd personally put your stock airbox back and then get the P2 flash. Your VTA may also be a problem.

We have experienced lots of issues with a number of different aftermarket intakes including our own which is why we have developed the WORKS "Drop-in" air filter. It seems that the VAF (Volume Airflow Meter) is hyper sensitive to the air path entering and exiting the this platic tube. It measures air volume with vortices it generates internally based on the Van Karman principle. Therefore the stock airbox is calibrated properly at the factory.
This aftermarket intake issue is independent of the Brain Flash P2. We have done extensive testing with the stock airbox and aftermarket intakes with stock software, P1 and P2. In every single instance the common denominator was the aftermarket intake.
The P0300 code (random misfire) EVO owners are experiencing seems to be occuring in all different configurations including 100% stock.
For those EVO enthusiasts experiencing the P0300 code, we actually have a version of the P2 completely integrated with the factory Mitsubishi P0300 reflash. Another example of our OEM technology.
Call for details regarding the WORKS Technical Service Bulletin referring to this reflash.

I know aftermarket intakes aren't recommended with the P2, but what about a K&N Panel filter????
Thanks.

Therefore, of course, we recommend the WORKS "Drop-In" Air Filter coming this fall.
And yes, it was designed with our P1 and P2 flashes to function 100% properly.

If you aren't having the CEL, there is no reason to get a reflash from us or Mitsubishi. In fact some local Mitsubishi dealers have told us they will only reflash a car showing a P0300 CEL.
