MR wastegate

Since Works now sells OEM products can you guys get the MR wastegate? I haven't figured out why yet, but according to that latest MT article with the MR/STi shootout there's something about the new wastegate that gives extra H P. Boggled me.

The metal bodied MR diverter valve doesn't leak boost like the plastic one, Pete is trying to source one out for us right now so we should have an answer in the very near future.

As far as other vendors go, no one I've called have turned one up and we're not paying anyone retail plus just because they happen to have in stock.

It isn't just the wastegate. It is the entire turbo. These turbos are internally gated, therefore, for the new wastegate shape, you will need to purchase a new turbo.

RT is talking about the BOV...not the wastegate.

…sorry about that, many people use the term BOV and Wastegate when they’re actually referring to the diverter valve. I guess I’ve become conditioned to the mix up in terminology.

Mayhem, are you referring to the BOV or the internal wastegate?

Just like the EVO 8, the MR has an internal wastegate. The wastegate door has a better shape and seal than the Evo 8.

It would be quite a bit of work and money to change to the MR wastegate. Really you would just want to change the whole turbo in my opinion. But if you are going to do that, you might as well put a bigger or upgraded turbo on there (ball bearing!)

Both are recirculating the Mr is similar to a 1g and is metal bodied. Where the Tomei looks just like the stock(plastic but has metal piston) but has a different spring rate which can handle higher boost. Both should work great from what I am hearing from other Evo owners who have them.

Does the MR DV has metal piston too?

Can the Type-S comparable in terms of holding boost except the TYpe-S is a VTA type instead of re-circulating...

Does the MR use a different actuator than the 8? Forced Performance carries the 10.5cm^2 turbine housing with the newer style wastegate flapper. You can swap the turbine housing out and it'll be just like an MR!

Yes. From the pictures, the stock piston looks to be metal also. The valve on the MR is metal compared to the stock plastic one.
