I'm looking to get a MAP sensor to log boost finally.....I can get an Omni 4bar for really cheap but after reading Mr. Freds how to set it up. It says something about running more than 35psi.

I'm only running 23-24psi (I think...my boost gauge says so...thus buying a map sensor)...

Will this work just fine? Or do I need a 3bar?

ive been using the 4 bar for a few months now. I thihnk head room is the only benefit to using the higher bar rating..

You could always get a JDM sensor which is good to about 33 psi

I had no problems with a 5 bar sensor which only read from 0.5 to 4.5 volts. I believe you should get the largest sensor you feel comfortable with. With 10bit resolution even a 7 bar sensor would have resolution down to to less than 0.7 kPa which is 0.09psi plenty of resolution to even run a fully N/A car.

Expense should be the limiting factor here and ease of placement. At this time there are no sensors cheaper and easier to install than a 4 bar omni. My 5 bar kavlico was almost 2x as expensive to get running because of wiring adapters and mdp adapters needed for fitment.

Best to get the most well supported sensor.

then you dont have to come up with your own scalings.

ALSO technically the 4bar has less resolution than a 3bar (because its for a greater spectrum to cover)

however for our purposes you dont need to worry about that...

4 bar it is. Resolution at lower boost levels was all I was concerned with.

But if the difference between the 3bar and 4bar is neglegible. Then it would make sense to go with the 4bar simply because there is a stupid simple "how to" already
