My Vacuum line Saga/Project

Hello everyone, I just wanted to share my vacuum line project with everyone

enjoy
****The vacuum line saga****

Well lets start with a little history, I went to the track a few weeks ago and I ran a pathetic 12.38 @ 116, I was having issues with my boost pressure as well valve fluttering of the BOV. The boost controller that I use is a Greddy EO1 that has some smoothing features in it, which allows you to smooth out your boost curve, I gave this a shot trying in a vane attempt to boost over 25 psi that day. Well this was a horrible attempt because I could not go past 22 psi (even though I had a 17 psi wastegate spring in there).

Anyway I came home and started to think, why on earth could this be ?.... I came to only one conclusion... SINCE my boost controller has a sensor which it uses as a reference as well as the actuator itself which then pulses a signal to the wastegate. These two pieces have TO HAVE the same source of vacuum and boost reference. WELL this is not how my car was set up previously. I had a source from the compressor housing of the 35r AND THEN a source from the back of the magnus. Which caused the boost to vary drastically in the system.

My Magnus has only 4 ports on it for vacuum fittings.
1) is dedicated to the brake booster line
2) is for the pcv
3) is for an accessory ( in most stock cars it would be for your fuel pressure reg)
4) is for the BOV

now this leaves me with just two openings and I have 6 accessories that require a boost reference. The only choice at this stage was to get a Vaccum block.

After browsing the summit website and figuring out all the fittings that I needed which are listed below
Part number Fitting Type Price QTY total
EAR-809106ERL -6 90 DEGREE TUBE SWIVEL-SEAL $16.95 4 $67.80
EAR-982362ERL -6 TO 1/8 NPT ADAPTER $8.25 2 $16.50
EAR-985068ERL -6AN TO -8 O-RING (3/4-16) $9.88 2 $19.76
(the part number above is for the vacuum block)
AER-FBM2031 -4 AN TO 1/8NPT 90DEG ADAPTER $7.25 2 $14.50
EAR-300104ERL -4 ST. AUTO-FIT $5.88 2 $11.76
EAR-991101ERL 1/8 NPT NIPPLE $1.95 1 $1.95
EAR-997517ERL 10MM -F BANJO BOLT -8MM THICK $7.99 1 $7.99
(the part number above is the banjo that replaces the piece on the BOV)
EAR-997641ERL BANJO -4 TO 10MM $7.39 1 $7.39
(This is the fitting required for the Tial Bov)
RUS-632020 PROFLEX HOSE #4-10' $41.95 1 $41.95
AER-FBM2239 ADAPTER 4AN TO 10MM STRAIGHT $9.95 2 $19.90
EAR-300104ERL -4 ST. AUTO-FIT $5.88 1 $5.88
EAR-309104ERL -4 90 DEGREE AUTO-FIT $14.95 1 $14.95
EAR-306004ERL 6 FT. -4 AUTO-FLEX $31.88 1 $31.88
EAR-991001ERL 1/8 NPT COUPLING $2.95 1 $2.95
EAR-991101ERL 1/8 NPT NIPPLE $1.95 1 $1.95
RUS-610010 HOSE END #4 STRAIGHT $7.50 1 $7.50
RUS-610150 HOSE END #4 -90 DEG $13.88 1 $13.88
RUS-660800 ELBOW 90DEGX 4 FLAREX1/8 NPT $6.95 1 $6.95
TOTAL_____________________________________________ __$ 295.44

wow that was a pain in the *** to format and paste in .
I just wanted to put that in because sometimes when you look at a car that has all these fittings on it, you don't really get an appreciation for how much and how many of these stupid fittings you really need.
I also had to hunt for a BSPT fitting for the greddy actuator so that it would accept NPT fittings ( You need a 1/8 BSPT #28 MALE TO A NPT 1/8 #27 FEMALE ). This is the same fitting that we use when we are trying to have a oil feed from the oil filter housings on dsms.
so now I have one boost reference source for all my accessories which are listed below
1)DEFI Boost guage sensor
2)Greddy EO1 boost reference sensor
3)Greddy Actuator vacuum reference (the solenoid)
4) Tial BOV
5) the fuel pressure regulator
6)the vacuum requirement for the bottom of the tial wastegate.

Here is the finished product
this picture shows the vacuum block

this is the two -6 an lines feeding the block (ignore the zip tied oil dipstick I have to come up with a solution for solid mounting that )

this picture shows the fittings in the wastegate (remember you need 1.0 by 10mm fittings)

the actuator sitting pretty

and finally a full engine bay shot as it sits today

After doing all this my boost is rock solid, alot better BOV response in partial throttle driving and everything just seems to work a lot smoother.
oh here is aquick pic of the ams stay bar that I had installed a while ago but I never put any pics up

Well I hope I have bored you enough with my little vacuum project and stay tuned for more fittings that are going to be drilled in the valve cover.

later everyone

I remember reading an article in Turbo where HKS used a vacuum block with great success on a turbo S14 way back in the day, before the drift thing was big.

can you label your list ? I am trying to figure out what the fitting size is on top of the tial... thanks.

Im going to be running a twin scroll setup and wanted to do stainless between the wastegates since the manifold is going to come into play.

wow blast from the past post..

the fittings on the tial are 1.0 by 10mm fittings..

EAR-997517ERL 10MM -F BANJO BOLT -8MM THICK $7.99 1 $7.99
(the part number above is the banjo that replaces the piece on the BOV)
EAR-997641ERL BANJO -4 TO 10MM $7.39 1 $7.39
(This is the fitting required for the Tial Bov)

those are the part numbers that I remember.

i thought i was reading it right... just making sure. What did you use for line ?
this ? RUS-632020 PROFLEX HOSE #4-10' $41.95 1 $41.95

Do you think the hose could have been either zip tied, hose clamped or fastened by another method and it be sufficient. Obviously nothing is better than fittings, but im searching for a barbed hose end option to make things in some areas easier.

If you are going to zip tie stuff, then just shove the -4 pro lite hose on to the "stock" fitting of the tial product... However whats the point of doing all this right ?... The fittings that I indicated are actually used for brake calipers.. if you run the part numbers into the summit search engine, you will see what I mean. Personally I used ALL -4 lines, with -4 AN fittings..

i think that is my plan as well... im just researching a few other options. I use a different site for fittings and such because they are cheaper than summit. I just am looking for the right sizing and what not.

My plan is to run 2 lines via fittings and hose ends off of each wastegate, into a T and then into the boost control selenoid. From the selenoid, running a line to my vac block. Shouldnt be too expensive, but at some parts i have to use barbed ends i think, just for ease. But i will see. I like the actual fitting style better though.
