EVO 6 build, 2.4 Block / Evo 8 head

Hey there, I wanted to share this project with you guys to see opinions and maybe a little bit of results from your end. And since is rare to find an evo 6 with a 2.4 block, I thought it would be nice to share some pics and info here.

I'm building a 4G64 block with 4G63 head, here some pics:

Dual Valve Springs for the head

A few engine accesories to build

Water pump comparison from 4G64 and 4G63

Manley Pistons

Manley Pistons Size

4G64 crank

Head, valve side

Machine work 4G64 block

Head with custom cover to check

Holes for the 4G64 oil squirters

Measuring piston pins with Rods

Assembling piston with rods

Old Eagle Rods vs Manley TT Rods

Wiseco Pistons vs Manley Pistons

All set

Rings and Gaps for the Pistons

Clearance

Piston inside the 4G64 block

According to specs

All set

Clearance again

Block almost done

Machine work for block

Building

4G63 vs 4G64 oil pan

Valves

Grinding valves

Some tests to the head with out home made thing

Almost ready

Aaaaand done!

Besides this, the supporting mods are: JB PTE 6262 .63 ar, 272 kelford, fuel lines -6AN, AMS fuel rail, FIC 1650cc injectors, AMS VSR Intake Manifold, AEM V1, Sparktech Non CDI, Excedy Triple HD, Race Buschur IC, ETS UICP and LICP, AEM Meth Kit, 5bar Map Sensor

This is the latest picture before the build:

This is the latest one, sleeping... (with some 17x9 RPF1)

I will be on C16 + Meth, what numbers do you think it will get?

More updates coming soon...

I love it,

Looks a lot like what I'm in the middle of. My 4g64 came from a 2003 outlander and I still need to get my hands on evo 8 cylinder head core.

What C/R did you go with for your Manley pistons? I'm undecided, but will probably go with 9:1 with a slight increase after installing freeze plugs and having my deck resurfaced.

Build looks great!

Thanks!

I took the block from a mitsu galant in a junk yard it was a twin cam one.

I'm using 9:1 because of the gas quality here and yes, I think it will increase if you have your deck resurfaced.

Everything is done and great, the car is tuned by Gadiel on 38+ Psi on a Jack trans and transfer, I had to change the rear differential.

I share with you this vid with a Shelby Cobra GT500 and me at 27 psi on VP C-16

Hopefully we will be on the track on april to share some results.

I will be posting more pictures and videos on my Racingram account: Gianfranco M

Did you have to notch your block to clear the turbo tuff rods? How's your oil pressure with the oil squirters?

Glad it's running, and your enjoying it! Can't wait to say the same.
