Evo 5, Should I buy?

I've been looking to upgrade from my moms oldminivan to something that suits me better. I know a guy out of town selling a mitsubishi evo 5 that is in good condition. I know it has a few minor blemishes which i expected out of an old car. But he metioned it burns a little oil on longer drives, he claims its due to the excess heat of the turbo. I dont know a whole bunch about turbo vehicles so i want to know if this is typical. He says it burns so little he can barely measure it. I know there are probably a million threads like this but im looking for a quick answer. Thanks and cheers!

I am mechanically inclined, been working on dirtbikes and snowmobiles for a while. I'm just trying to figure out if this is okay or if its gonna need a rebuild real quick. He said it burns 50 ml in 1000km highway drives. But not in town.

skip that car then. shouldn't burn any noticeable oil. that thing is burning a third of a quart in 3k miles, that's way too much

burning oil from the "excess heat of the turbo" is a load of crap. longer drives on the freeway should be one of the easiest things on the car because you should hardly be using the turbo and it shouldn't be having "excess heat"

What is the price? If you can get a good deal on it, you might have enough left over to address the oil burning issue. CP9A's are a ton of fun, and well worth the price of maintenance.

also if you're in the US you have to deal with skirting the registration laws to get the car registered

"The North Eh" maybe canada? their import law is 15 years yea?

We've had Evo Vs up here for like five years now. Extremely easy to register and insure them in Western Canada.
