Help: Exhaust Manifold Studs.
Ok guys so couple questions...
Basically I am having my manifold ported and coated by PPI, and while it's all out I ordered every single nut and bolt to replace on the hot side of the motor. (Freshin it up a bit) Anyway, What is the easiest way to remove the studs out of the block? and also, What is the process for installing the new ones. Do you guys suggest any kind of "lock tite" on there or something.
Thanks in advance!!!

The easiest way to remove them would be to spray them all with some penetrating oil and wait a couple hours, then double nut them and back each one out and repeat. I've had this work numerous times. As for loc-tite I don't know if I'd put any on there because it's bad enough having dissimilar metals together, then you ad loc-tite and if one breaks then you'll have one hell of a time getting them out.

Just did this over the weekend. Double nuts work ok but for extra comfort about removing the studs without damaging anything I would go with the roller type stud remover. 12mm +14mm. Yeah you'll only need these for one time use but you get the assurance that you wont be snapping anything. I used PB blaster while the engine was cooling down and again the next morning. ^^^ Awesome product. Link for the tool is below.
