So then... what exactly is a test pipe? If you want to feel really helpful, what are the components of the exhaust in order?
Thanks squad...
Also... what the heck is the stock redline on the IX MR? lol omg I feel like such a noob right now...

A test pipe is just a piece of tubing with the correct flanges welded on to be a direct replacement for catalytic converter. It won't pass any state or federal inspections, including emissions. It can also cause your car to run bad on certain cars.
Components of the exhaust system are going to be:
Exhaust manifold
Turbocharger
Downpipe
catalytic converter (aka cat) OR test pipe
cat-back exhaust (includes any resonators or mufflers)
I might be missing something... I feel like I am for some reason lol

I assume the logic here is so you can just bolt a cat into place for inspection and then put the test pipe in for uhhh... non-inspections lol?
Anyone have the redline for me? (right after I mention I'm not a moron lol)

It should get it a bit louder, depending on many exhaust factors like pipe diameter, etc
Having no Cat is less restrictive, therefore, your engine will have an easier time "pushing" gases out to start a new cycle
