Brake bleeding procedure

Hey guys, last august i bought a new Lancer Sportback 2010. I have a question about bleeding the brakes.

Do you need to bleed them in a specific order, and do you need to bleed the ABS even if the reservoir doesnt run empty?

Just curious... why do you need to bleed your brakes? have you lost fluid or delivered a leak in your system? did you change lines or anything to do with the hydraulics?

I took my brake calipers off to paint them red, for easier spraying i had to disconnect them from the brake-hoses.

Cool... Gravity bleed it first then R/R,L/F,L,R,R/F.
If you’re not too sure what gravity bleed is, all you have to do is crack the bleeders 1 at a time and let the fluid flow until it spits out most of the bubbles. For this you don’t need to pump your pedal.
FYI, To make the job a bit cleaner, get an empty water bottle and a vacuum hose that will fit snug over the bleeder screw so the fluid runs through and in the bottle.

Hmm i might have a problem...

I think my reservoir has run dry overnight before bleeding the brakes!! I filled the reservoir to max before the whole bleeding thing and since the oil has a very faint color it looked like it only a few drops left in the reservoir.

Do i have to worry about the ABS and clutch now too?

Yes you should have put clamps on the line or plugs, you will have to bleed the brakes and clutch, now that the resevoirs is empty i recommend "bench bleeding" the master cylinder to get out all the air from it first, then bleed the brakes and clutch.

Get a professional if you don't know what you are doing, brakes is not something to toy around with as an amateur.

No, ABS doesn't have to be touched.

Well, my car has been at my local dealerchips' workshop for over a week now. they initialy thought the master brake cylinder was broken.

After they replaced it the brake pedal still was soft/spongy. Now they've ordered some new ABS replacement part that might fix the issue, what the hell?

I will never bleed brakes again
