Bleeding The Coolant System

When you guys do coolant flushes, are you bleeding the system? Is there a specific bleeder anywhere, or just bleed it out the funnel on the radiator cap? I tried searching but didn't come up with any results.

I THINK there is a little hose thing on the bottom of the radiator.

Theres a plug in the block too, not just the radiator.

At work, I use a special funnel that attaches to the radiator cap that will automatically bleed the system, but some cars have a bleeder "nipple" type thing. I just wanted to see if there was one on the Evo or if I could just use the funnel.

We all have them at work too. They re called a spill free funnel and they are adapters for all makes. But no there isnt a bleeder valve on the thermostat housing or on the intake manifold like V6 GMs that have 2 "bleeders"

Try bleeding the air out of a 2ZZ Toyota engine after going a water pump. It takes longer then doing the pump. We also vacuum the system, it helps alot.

Yeah, I wasn't sure of the exact name, but I've used them. I guess I'll just use it with the right adaptors when I do my coolant flush in a few weeks.

funny thing I didn't have to bleed mine when I did my radiator just left the coolant cap open for a bit and kept pouring in a little at a time till it was good and just let it run for awhile haven't had any problems.

Unless you drain the block or are doing a water pump there isnt going to be much air in the system. All you supposed to do is run the car until the thermostat opens, top off, then the reservoir will fill the rest once the caps put on.

Anybody actually have the block drain out when changing coolant? I found the thing but it looked to be a very difficult job.
