SST Gear Whine Noise
I have an 2008 MR with approx 3200 miles on it. After running on the interstate for longer than 45 minutes @ 75-80 miles an hour the transmission makes a loud, louder than normal driving around town, gear whine noise. Downshifts seem to be harsh and 'clunkier', in terms of the rear driveline clunking when coming to a stop. Any other MR owners experience this? I've had in to the dealer once for this and they of course didn't drive it long enough for it to begin to make the noise. Seems to work fine, no warning lights or loss of power, just gear noise. Not coming from the transfer case, it will whine in neutral when reving the engine at dead stop.

I have 4,700 miles on mine and I don't have the gear whine or clunking.
What I do have is a loose belt type squeal between 20-40mph. It goes away when I go above 40mph and slows to a stop as I go below 20mph. I could probably pop the hood and figure it out, but I am taking it in for the first 5K service soon, so I figured I would just let them take care of it.
