Headlight Housing removal help

Well , first off - please dont try and install the little healight accent lights in the dark. Bad idea. I dropped the damn bulb in the housing , its one of those oversized led ones.

What I am thinking of doing is pulling ouit the whole housing and shaking the damn thing out. How hard is it to get out, and does it go out of alignment putting it back in? im not very mechanicaly inclined (obviously). Think i can do this?

I know it was stupid so pls dont remind me...

There's 3 bolts that hold the headlight in. Take all three out, and you *might* be able to get the headlight housing out without pulling the front bumper cover off. Good luck.

i tried to take the housings out already.. i remove all the bolts and it still wouldn't come off the car... it was really loose... but just couldn't get it past the bumper... I am pretty sure you have to take the bumper off... then housing should be no problem... as for being out of alignment once you put them back on .. I don't know... good luck man

Is there a metal base to that bulb? Can you get one of those little magnet-on-a-stick things in there to pick it up?

If there's not enough metal to get it with a magnet, maybe one of those three-pronged pickup tools like Schwarzenegger used in Total Recall to pull the bug out of his head?

I have one of each, and they've proven invaluable when trying to retrieve dropped bolts and stuff.

Ive checked a like buld with a magnet - no dice. I noticed a little gap in the bottom of the headlight- hopefully it will work itself into it and disappear or i may have to get something to push it down in. Though I would like to find one of the Governator devices. sounds cool.

its super easy to take off the bumper 6 plastic clips (4 on top,2 on bottom), 4 plastic screws (2 per side), and 2 bolts (1 per side). once you know where they are, takes like ten minutes to take off the front bumper. doesn't sound like much but its true...makes you wonder how many bolts are actually holding the car together....freaky

you can.... but you might be scuffing up your bumper a lot and its sooo much easier once you pull the bumper off

I've had my bumper off, I just didn't want to explain it to him.

They're ugly without that big piece of plastic on the front...

yow, that is ugly. Actually after I drove it around last night I got out and went to show my buddy what I did, we looked and it was gone. So i guess it worked its way into the opening and vanished. You know- she is such a good car. Even if it seems there is only a few rubber bands and a plastic clip holding her together.

Thanks for the info guys- im glad it went away , because I dont see me removing a bumper without a garage, and some help. It would have been bad.
